Posted on 09/30/2010 11:56:20 AM PDT by Chet 99

Republican Ron Johnson now leads incumbent Democrat Russ Feingold by 12 points in Wisconsin’s race for the U.S. Senate.

The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Johnson picking up 54% support, while Feingold, who is running for his fourth term in the Senate, gets 42% of the vote with leaners included. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, and two percent (2%) more are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The latest numbers move this race to Leans Republican from a Toss-Up in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Balance of Power rankings.

Obama can perform miracles — he can turn Wisconsin into a solid red state (I hope).

To cheeseheads — is there something specific to Feingold (besides his being a hard-core leftist) pulling him down?

Funny, All the media (including Fox) were shouting yesterday that Obama got the biggest audience when he visited Wisconsin & that O is "personally popular". Yeah, his "personal popularity" increased Ron Johnson's lead to 12 points.

Great Job O!

Russ originally won because he was the "nice regular guy" who was above mudslinging dirty politics. He ran a successful campaign on being "for the people". Of course none of that was true, but most voters retained the idea of Russ being a nice guy.

Now, a real "nice regular guy" is running against him and Russ has publicly showed his nasty side. He also showed the same at numerous town halls during the health care debate.

Add to that the popularity of the Republican Candidate for Governor (Scott Walker) in the Milwaukee area - I believe this gives Johnson some coattails (Milwaukee is one of the two places that turns Wisconsin from Red to Blue) and you have a perfect storm against old Rusty the Red. It can't come soon enough for those of us in the Tax Hell known as Wisconsin

Part of it is that Feingold seems to have become a Washington guy. He also started out the campaign with some really sleazy mudslinging ads targeting Johnson.

Johnson has done a great job with his TV campaign. He has been very effective and turned some of the Feingold ads around, especially the one focusing on Social Security, where Feingold accused him of calling it a ponzi scheme. Johnson went on the air and said, “Yes, I called it a ponzi scheme, because it is. Feingold and the other Washington politicians spent all the money that was supposed to be in the trust fund.”

You know what they say: when the challenger to an incumbent breaks 50%, you can put a fork in the incumbent.

No wonder Feingold distanced himself from that WH loser and fraud...the only thing the fraud did for us is drive Americans to oust all connected with what has happened to this country...54% this close to the election looks as if we’ll have another Republican senator in a supposed safe seat...HA

Any pit-bull goodies coming out later? LOL

BTW: I wish these polls were outlawed.
They mean Nothing except when they are being used to discourage people from voting ‘or’ to “Steer” an election itself!

I stand jaw agap in disbelief.
Stood the same way when a Republican had the audacity to seek Kennedy’s seat.
