Larry Kudlow just insisted on a rumor we've heard several times: Michael Bloomberg is going to be treasury secretary.

Kudlow says he heard from "deep insiders" that the pick has been made and it's Bloomberg.

Of course this also confirms rumors that Tim Geithner, currently the Treasury Secretary, is gone after November.

My thought is that he would love to do it, for two reasons. The first is that he has been itching to make the transition from NYC to the national scene and the second is that he barely squeaked by this past mayoral election and that he sees the writing on the wall.

My view is that he has no natural talent for the job because he is a salesman, not a financier. While sales skills are good for any public official to have, his sales acumen relates to selling complex software to savvy executives and not selling policy to regular people.

To an executive he comes across as smart, aggressive and focused. To a regular person he comes across as a condescending, combative know-it-all.

He just gave an interview that stated that President Obama does NOT care about business.

That he told us what he was about when he ran and we were wrong to think that he would be more to the center when he won.

I don’t see how that interview endears him to Obamao.

Having just spent a bazillion dollars on his latest mayoral run, I don’t see Bloomberg giving up running New York in exchange for shilling for Obama. This is probably a trial balloon from the administration.

My son-in-law deals with him on a pretty regular basis and thinks the sun rises and sets on the guy.

RE: Then why did they just re-elect him to a third term?

Bloomberg might be many things people of NYC do not want, but let’s fact it — on the MOST IMPORTANT job a Mayor must do -— PEACE AND ORDER - HE IS VERY SUCCESSFUL.

New York City is one of the safest big cities in the WORLD. He continued Rudy Giuliani’s tough on crime policies and made it even better. Crime has continued to drop in the Big Apple and we just recently had the lowest crime rate since the 1960’s.

I don’t care for the rest of his policies but PEACE AND ORDER are high on my list.

I believe that is foremost in the minds of most NYC voters too.

He's an excellent administrator in terms of demanding accountability and measurable results from his employees, but if you look at his initiatives as mayor he's not much of an idea man.

Then why did they just re-elect him to a third term?

He won in 2005 by a 19 point margin.

He won in 2009 by a 4 point margin.

His base of support has dramatically eroded.

I have to hand it to Obama. He’s done the one thing I never thought he could. He picked a guy who would actually cause me to miss Turbo Tim.

I believe he's been an Independent since 2007.

Good news!!! Get the bum outta here. As Treas. Sec. one @$$h0l# will replace another. With a jerk like Bloomberg controlling the nation’s pocketbook, Bam’s administration will sink further into the sewer he’s created.

So what’s the problem? The man told the truth. Doesn’t Obama claim to always be for the truth?
