It's smut, not art, Loveland protesters say
The Denver Post ^ | 10/1/10 | Monte Whaley

LOVELAND — About 25 to 30 residents stood outside the Loveland Museum/Gallery this morning protesting a portion of an exhibit that appears to show Jesus Christ involved in a sex act.

"This is not art, it's smut, pure and simple," said Ronald Minto, who said he's not against graphic art per se. But the color lithograph produced by Stanford University's Enrique Chagoya is outright pornography, he said.

"This is a museum, not an X-rated book store," said Minto.

The lithograph is spread over 12 panels, each about 7- by 7-inches, and is called "The Misadventures of the Romantic Cannibals."

It's part of an touring 10-artist exhibit titled "The Legend of Bud Shark and His Indelible Ink."

The exhibit is slated to be at the Loveland Museum/Gallery through Nov. 28. But Loveland City Councilwoman Donna Rice hopes the public will put enough public pressure on the city, to force Chagoya's piece to be be yanked.

"This is a taxpayer supported, public museum and it's family-friendly," Rice said, adding a court-ordered injunction may also be in order. "This is not something the community can be proud of."

Rest easy, there is no descicration of Islam here. No threats to cut off heads or riots. Also, no call from the President of the United States to remove or not show this, no call from Sarah Palin either, no world wide outcry. No call from anyone other than locals. And they are being ignored. Double standard???? No way........ But just imagine if this was Muhammed instead of Jesus Christ. Oh my God!

Looks like they hit several communist goals with this one.

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.”

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.”

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

You know, now that I’ve looked at those,

they sure fit a Luciferian manifesto as well...

No coincidence.

This is a taxpayer supported, public museum

Then it MUST come down. The same "STATE" that is PROHIBITED from exhibiting the 10 Commandments or a Christmas tree on public property cannot use taxdollars to spit or sh*t on Christians EITHER.

The antiChristian ACLU is only upset when it is a PRO-Christian representation.

The Constitution makes it clear that establishment clause covers both sides of the coin.

The ACLU is a bunch of communist bigots.

If there is nothing wrong with the explicit nature of the content, then why didn’t the newspaper reprint at least an excerpt of the work?

Sounds like that town needs to think about replacing city council and defunding the arts program. If that is the kind of art people in Loveland want, then surely one or more for-profit galleries should open and would make a good living providing it. There is no reason for city government to do this. Then the people who are repelled by this — let’s face it, third-rate — art can simply avoid the private galleries selling it and everyone will be happy.

They should have a work of “art” depicting the genocidal savage Mohammed raping his nine-year-old “wife”.

Easy response. Threaten to stand outside the museum and burn a Quran for every day the exhibit is on display.

Or threaten a law suit for a publically supported art gallery showing Christian material. They cringe at the thought of showing Christian material when it’s good, they should learn to have the same reaction when its bad.
