CNN: New Faces, Same Game
Variety ^ | Michael Schneider, Sam Thielman

CNN announced an Oct.4 start date for Parker/SPITZER, a debate show starring former N.Y. governor Eliot Spitzer and journalist Kathleen Parker. [Years ago CNN jokingly was referred to by many as the "Clinton News Network" because of the obvious way it discarded objective reporting on the multitude of Clinton debacles and scandals in order to shill for the Clinton political machine. But now it's become even more outrageous than the same old media bias. With great fanfare CNN has proudly hired Eliot Spitzer. This is the governor who recently resigned in disgrace for his crimes of legal and moral turpitude. There was a time when such a person as Spitzer would want to avoid public notice and retreat into personal obscurity. But both CNN and Spitzer are shameless. It also reflects CNN's opinion of the mental and moral stature of the viewing public.]

I'm personally curious as to whether Spitzer has managed to negotiate an acceptable price yet with Kathleen.

I’m personally curious as to whether Parker has managed to negotiate an acceptable price yet with Spitzer. He is a former governor, albeit a disgraced one. And she is...?

Dear CNN watchers, yes, both of you:

Kathleen Parker is NOT a conservative.

That is all.

It’s hard to believe that anyone could actually make Bubba look good by comparison!

I would bang some conservativism into her ... like the fist of God.

I bet Spitzer keeps his socks on throughout the show!

CNN regards a GOP backstabber and a prostitutes' client
as acceptable to represent CNN.

Says a lot right there.

That was said facetiously. I don’t know about Kathleen but I’m sure if things are tough in the better “houses,” Eliot will take any port in a storm. Ask his wife.

Right - and that’s the advantage of having NO standards. The ratings plunge ever lower but they’re having a good time!

It’s only tedious if you take it seriously. But you shouldn’t miss all the first-rate comic and entertainment value! CNN has become a delightful caricature of liberalism!

Well, that would be a problem for them. In that case they might be forced to find a common, ordinary slob with no class - somebody like Geraldo.

Spitzer is a spectacular political hypocrite and in a sick way the American voyeur population may tune in to watch this fulminating car wreck burn before their eyes.

I cannot stomach listening to him for even a few seconds. Imagine him lecturing people on morality and law. To hell with him. Who will CNN hire next, OJ?

I think she is that woman who has such a foul mouth and uses profanity-laced commentary on tv. Didn’t she host a Christmas or New Year’s Eve show where they had to bleep her, they chided her for her bad taste and then hired her again the next year and she used the same language. And then there’s Spitzer, the hypocrite who prosecuted everyone that breathed while he was hiring prostitutes after hours. Did CNN really think we had forgotten?

He has too high of a sleaze quotient, even if you aren’t familiar with his sleazy behavior. And once you hear about his past, you just don’t want to turn in to watch anymore.

CNN ... FAIL

I doubt you are speaking of Parker. She’s just not conservative - in the FReep sense.

I think you’ve got a point. Just as some people are attracted to disasters and sensational calamities, so too do some gravitate to pathetic, repulsive figures for entertainment. But the good thing is that these attractions don’t last long and they quickly move on to focus on some other freaky thing.
