Google CEO: "We Know Where You Are. We Know Where You've Been...What You're Thinking About."
Business Insider ^ | Oct. 4, 2010 | Nick Saint

Google CEO Eric Schmidt really has a knack for expressing relatively benign ideas in a way that makes him and his company look incredibly creepy...

" With your permission, you give us more information about you, about your friends, and we can improve the quality of our searches. We don't need you to type at all. We know where you are. We know where you've been. We can more or less know what you're thinking about. "

“Well where I live, it’s a town ordinance to lease them”

That’s really odd. We can buy dogs here, and we own them. I don’t even know where to begin looking for a lease on a dog.

There are no shortage of people in this world that want to climb all the way up your ass and know and control everything you do, think, and say.

You can also use StartPage as your default search engine. It doesn’t track your movements the way Google does.

I don’t use google either. I think anonymous people harmed by google could target them just as easily for a “thank you”.

Use Googo mail? Ever notice how it saves your draft every few seconds and instantly analyzes it, in just about any human language, then, based on the analysis, beams related ads at ya, before you even finalize the text? And you, my libnertarian friend, mumbling about Orwell’s 1984 every occasion you find, are paranoid about the gummint snooping on ya? Ha!

Google is creepy, man. If Google were a person, he’d have bodies buried under his porch.

And yours would be right at the top of the SERP. LOL!

Brother it is looking more and more like 1986 everyday.

Nah. It's looking more and more like 2010.

I also wonder how dogs must feel being on a lease. Is it degrading to them to be walked down the street on a lease?

As it is with automobiles, it is better to own dogs than to lease them.

As long as it's Google, a profit-seeking capitalist corporation with a clever business model, and not a government agency trying to ensure fair outcomes, not to worry.

I agree, but don’t whine to me about privacy when it come to such capitalist enterprises like Gooogo, and by extension, yes, banks, money lenders too, no?

That is why I run the Better Privacy app in Firefox- it gets the lso’s that remain when you just delete cookies, also use Clusty— no record kept for searches there either... Google can ___ my ____.

I’m not all that happy about the new “instant google” feature. It gets underfoot like a group of hungry cats.

try dougsearch.com

It is still in early testing and has a few quirks I am working out. I have plans for the next version and want to move it to faster servers soon.

The neat thing about it is the category searching. You can type politics:right or politics:left and search the top left or right political sites.

The other cool thing is on the news search I added a freerepublic icon that you can click to see if the news article has been posted and if not, then it helps you to post the article information.

Please try it and write back with suggestions or issues.
