3.5 million Californians would be eligible for healthcare tax credits, study finds

The federal credits, provided under the nation's healthcare overhaul, would help low- and middle-income people slash the cost of coverage through a new state health insurance marketplace.

An estimated 3.5 million Californians would be eligible for federal tax credits to slash the cost of their health coverage when they begin buying policies through a new statewide insurance marketplace in 2014, a study released Tuesday found.

Under the nation's healthcare overhaul, tax credits will be available to low- and middle-income people once insurers begin selling policies through state-based insurance exchanges like the one being set up in California.

The federal law requires most Americans to have insurance starting in 2014. The credits that help pay insurance costs will go directly to insurers, lowering premiums for those who are uninsured or do not have coverage through jobs.

One thing that will help people save money is to learn more about home nursing and caring for the dying. It is so tragic for people to have to give so much of their life savings to the medical/institution system at end of life, when with courage and training people could care for their elderly parents and relatives and save their inheritance.

The only time our loved one was placed in professional nursing care was after my parent entered Hospice. Our parents and grandparents were cared for by family before they passed away.

Why didn't the article tell the people what the threshold is? In reading the Health Care Bill I believe people who earn less than 80K will be eligible for tax credits so now I guess your rich if you earn 85K. This is such crap once my taxes go up and I am forced to pay the 700 or more per month for my family's and evryones else healthcare I will not be able to pay my own bils and if I cant afford to pay for the mandated health care I will be forced to pay a fine up to 3% of my salary for each person in my family. Where the heck do theses politicians think the money is going to come from . FUBO and the Democratic congress these people are dispicable

Exactly! As a former canadian, all you have to do is prove to the govt by letter that you do not have a job, and they will waive your mandatory monthly. That’s in canada. This time, it’s not even mentioned nor spelled out how unemployed people are supposed to pay for their monthly. But you know what? The one sure thing that I know of in Obamacare is that illegals will get surgery and treatment than American citizens.

It’s much worse than that! We are being brain washed into believing that we need every preventive diagnostic test to prevent catastrophic problems. Well, those costs are exorbitant and much more than if problems occur. So, no wonder Health Costs are skyrocketing!

If we all just had catastrophic insurance, things would be much better. After all, most could pay for occasional medical care, it is just the high cost of hospitalization that causes problems.

Drugs, most could pay for as needed. It would be only the few high cost items that would be a problem but asking everybody to pay for those is not right.

Health care is not and should not be something that we take for granted. We live our lives as we choose - many choose a much riskier lifestyle. Others should not be paying for that decision.

“Where the heck do theses politicians think the money is going to come from .”

funfan, you must realize that the liberals goal is to DESTROY the economy completely. You see, for Socialists and Communists, Capitalism can’t work. So for all those ignoramus’ in America who have been fed a steady diet of the Socialist/Communist ideology for the last 40+ yrs, this breakdown in the “Capitalist” system will require “dramatic” change in our form of government and commerce.

Are you getting the picture. If not, allow me to post a quote from The Naked Communist by Skousen. He illustrates my point concisely.

The Rise of the Marxist Man

“Marx surveyed the world and dreamed of the day when the whole body of humanity could be forced into a gigantic social image which conformed completely to Marx’s dream of a perfect society.
To achieve his goal, Marx required two things. First, the total annihilation of all opposition, the downfall of all existing governments, all economies and all societies. “Then”, he wrote, “I shall stride through the wreckage a creator!” The second thing he needed was a new kind of human being.”

Are you seeing this, funfan? Does this quote remind you of anything? We are witnessing what Skousen astutely pointed out in The Naked Communist.

So, buckle up. It’s going to be a bumpy ride. If you have children, remove them from the public education system, which is nothing more than Socialist/Communist institutions of indoctrination. Either enroll them in a private conservative school, or educate them at home. We’ve educated our children (one is currently attending college).

Many People have been programmed to beleive that they are owed many things. Personal responsibility is a thing of the past because the Governemnt owes it to you to take care of you. I was brought up to be self sufficent and also I beleive in a strong family unit. I do not want anything from anyone I just want to be left to my own devices :)

Thanks for posting that. My kids are grown but one is still in College and shes going to be a teacher and the other is a social worker—makes me laugh sometimes but they mean well and are good kids. I broke down on the phone with my older daughter last week because I am really worried for them as I know communists do not like GOD and will try to destroy anyone who believes in him. My daughter is a christian and very involved in her church so I am just afraid for her. I told her there were communistis in the white house and I worry for her. She told me it would be okay but I just feel dread all the time.
And yes I am seeing the picture of what is unfolding and I dont like it

You and me both! You are right, it is a shame that so many seem to think that Health Insurance is the ultimate goal these days. Mercy, these and so many other things have become such a necessity.

Most people would seldom have to go to a Doctor more than a couple time in their lifetime. Now it seems that not only does everyone go for everything from colds, flu, headaches, and of course the proverbial “checkup” with all of its costs, it’s no wonder that the Doctors have no time for real problems.

Again, the only insurance anyone needs is catastrophic insurance against major hospital or other major problems. Anything else they should pay for. In those real poverty cases, the government can pick up the costs - but they should be few and rare...

As long as there are public schools, your daughter will be a light shining in a very dark place.

Communists don’t just dislike God, they are completely against our Lord. And yet, we have a blessed assurance in Christ. The Lord instructs us to fear Him, not man, because man cannot destroy our salvation in Christ. Your daughter sounds confident of this, as am I and my family. I pray that you’ll find comfort as well.

Lord have mercy on America.
