A bill submitted to congress, Sept. 29, would abolish the right to work laws that exist in 22 states, at least according to its sponsor Brad Sherman (D-CA27) as the text of the bill, H.R 6384, is not yet available at Thomas.gov.

Right to work laws came about from the Taft-Hartley Amendments to the National Labor Relations Act in 1947. These laws allow a person to refrain from joining a union and still be able to work at a company.

What needs to happen is to remove the exemption of unions from Taft Hartley entirely. Let them compete like everybody else.

This would take the individual states’ rights on forced unionization. Given the radicalism of unions like the SIEU and the NEA, the prospects of this passing are ominous. It could result in party control over employment. We’ll all be forced to pay union dues, which would go to the ‘Rat Party, which would control government, which would consolodate control over the work force. It must be stopped at all cost.

The exemption that needs to be removed is the exemption for labor unions in the Sherman Anti-Trust Act.

When I refused to join the union (IBEW AFL/CIO) back in the early 70's, I was told I was taking my life into my own hands. My Dad worked at the electrical company, too. They got me to join by threatening him.

Sure they are... how come in 8 years they didn't get a national right to work?

I work in a right to work state Kansas where I work I was here before the union and had tried to join at one time and they denied me membership. Our Constitution states that you can not be hired or fired depending if you do or do not belong to a union. So they would need to change my states Constitution.
