Biden riles the crowd: 'You’re the dullest audience I’ve ever spoken to' By Jordan Fabian - 10/07/10 02:48 PM ET

Vice President Joe Biden got a laugh from his audience at a Wisconsin fundraising event Thursday when he tried to rile the crowd about the economic collapse of 2008.

“We want to reward people who manufacture things in the United States, in Wisconsin, not to take them overseas to China and to other countries!” he said to a silent room at the event for Democratic gubernatorial nominee Tom Barrett, according to a White House pool report.

He continued, saying “You’re the dullest audience I’ve ever spoken to," at which point he got applause and laughs. "Do you realize how many jobs Wisconsin lost? It’s staggering!"

Biden and President Obama have made frequent campaign stops in recent weeks in an attempt to jolt Democrats who are lagging Republicans in voter enthusiasm measures, in part due to the slowing pace of the economic recovery under the administration's watch.

Biden's appearance Thursdsay was in the Wisconsin's state capital Madison, which hosted a crowd of 26,000 to see President Obama speak at rally targeted at young voters the week before.

The vice president has argued at previous that Democrats have begun to reverse the momentum that had them sliding to large losses on Election Day. He has also taken several pointed shots at the GOP, jokingly saying this week that he would "strangle" Republicans who talk about the deficit.

On Thursday, he took a jab at the House GOP's "Pledge to America," governing agenda.

“The pledge half baked…folks, we’ve been in that oven before," he said. "This pledge is a threat to America."

He must have learned his audience insulting techniques from Werner Erhard back in the ‘70s.

He does know his dull.

I play bar trivia. One night the host was trying to get the crowd up as we weren't reacting to anything. After he tried to pep us up the next category was disasters. So I cheered for it just to show him that we were up for the game. Now I always cheer when that category shows up. I would have done the same thing after Biden chastised the crowd, cheering for the next thing he said.

I think Biden is a thug. He’s a criminal and a lying psycopath that just happened to end up in politics.

I often wondered why Obama picked Biden for VP. Thanks to you, problem solved.

He is entertaining that is for sure. It is amazing to me that he is even able to function after the tragedy that he suffered a few years back. He lost his wife and child in a car accident. I don’t know many that could recover from that. He has horrible politics but at least he is trying not to sit in a corner and relive his “hell on Earth”.

Oh good grief. No wonder Dumb & Dumber are sticking to the college campus crowd. How there can possibly be anyone over the age of 30 in this country, who pays the slightest bit of attention to politics, that can stand to listen to these over the top, hackneyed scare tactics is beyond me.

I see Biden as big time asset.

Two letters too many at the end of that sentence.

Are you sure he did? Joe seems a bit 'unstable'.

*Insulting your audience is hardly a good speech technique.*

Don't forget, Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Boxer are the Elite the creme de la creme.

It's up to the peasants to entertain the royal speaker when he deigns to come to your town to speak their golden fecal words.

Washington pulls the strings and the puppets are supposed to jump.

"Do you realize how many jobs Wisconsin lost? It’s staggering!" Amazing. It is because of his boss these jobs where lost. Wait one more thing I thought we were out of financial trouble Joe? Your boss says so.

I'll bet Biden prepared the remark, and his notes have it:

Your the dullest audience I've ever spoken too.
