MOSCOW – Vladimir Putin received an unusual birthday gift Thursday from 12 female journalism students, who posed in lacy underwear and used sexual innuendo to create a calendar dedicated to Russia's macho prime minister. "How about a third time?" asks Miss February, hinting at a third presidential term for Putin, who served two terms as president from 2000 to 2008 and is eligible to run again in 2012. "You put out the forest fires, but I'm still burning," says Miss March, referring to Putin's piloting of a firefighting plane during the summer's devastating wildfires. p>

Babel Fish says, "Scaffolding extinguished and I still to the grief."

Must be an inside joke.

Helping Albanian Muslims kill Yugoslav Christians didn’t help much. It was on Russian TV every night.

Bad as I hate to admit it, Google translator works pretty well for Russian. Have used it many times.

It is very poor (as all translators are) for Farsi. I used it often in the #Iran Election phase on Twitter. If you tranlate and then reverse the process you can normally do a bit better. In most cases when you got it to read back correctly you could be understood.

Translators work pretty good for Spanish and Portuese. Still need to translate and reverse to check.

Putin’s main talent appears to be his ability to breathe life into the good old fashioned cult-of-personality totalitarianism.

I have worked in “Russia” Komi Repulic (CIS) actually.

Met any number of women - most were widows, married to men that drank themselves to death. Some were very attractive - the rest were handsome, which is to say, easy on the eye. BUt being happily married, explaining no sale was easy - with the help of a translator (long story)

In this situation, one has to wonder — why did the old man drink himself to death...

At one time I intended to learn Russian but let that slide when my job became one continuous learning process.

I remember tourist phrases like, " Сколько эта стоит?"
