“Mr. Donilon began as young political operative for President Jimmy Carter and later was chief of staff for Secretary of State Warren Christopher in the Clinton administration. He has long operated in the area between politics and national security. He coached Mr. Obama on foreign policy for his debates during the 2008 presidential campaign.

As deputy national security adviser, he has urged what he calls a “re-balancing” of American foreign policy to rapidly disengage American forces in Iraq and to focus more on China, Iran and other emerging challenges. In the Afghanistan-Pakistan review, he argued that the United States could not engage in what he termed “endless war,” and has strongly defended Mr. Obama’s decision to declare that troops will begin leaving Afghanistan next summer.”

Republicans better take over Congress in 2010 and the presidency in 2012, while we still have a country...

Unreal....nothing but a YES man with NO *real* experience in National Security....sheeeesh.

I am praying that Obama will not even finish his FIRST term. I hope he will be impeached and soundly removed from office!

Please tell me this appointment requires a Senate hearing. Oh boy, will Harry catch it for keeping the Senate in session over the break so the _resident can’t make a recess appointment.

Wish in one hand, $h!t in the other...

Action needs to be taken.

...Protests on the Mall calling for his impeachment. Tar, feathers and a rail in front of the podium before he speaks, arming our newly elected conservative representatives with real pitchforks and torches before the session starts so they can carry them onto the floor making the symbolism unmistakeable - that this tyrant is no longer acceptable.

This means that every report from the NSA to the President is going to be shaded with politics and political bias.

I believe that in Woodward’s book he said something to the effect that Sec. Def. Gates would view Donilon’s advancement to NSA as a “disaster”. Sounds like Dem. politics is going to manage the Afghan. war. Look for Gates to bail sooner than expected and who knows what Petraues will do.

He is a clear and present danger to the US -- just like Obama:

"Donilon and Obama share the same stances on key foreign policy questions. Donilon would like to end the war in Iraq, refocus resources on Afghanistan and keep Iran from building a nuclear weapon through diplomacy and stronger sanctions.

Donilon's specialty, he says, is political conventions."

From Wikipedia:

"... The Washington Times reported that Donilon made millions for work that included supervising Fannie Mae's lobbying against increased regulation."

Oh, well. As long as he's qualified.

Donilon, 55, has been involved in Democratic politics for more than three decades. He held a White House post in the administration of President Jimmy Carter and worked on the 1984 and 1988 Democratic presidential campaigns.
.............

Oh yeah, Considering what the Dums have been up to for the past 20 years YOU BET HE Should be in PRISON.

I don't look for Gates to bail out.

Gates was a colorless, second-banana bureaucratic hack of the first magnitude when Obama asked him to stay on.

Anyone who accepts and appointment and works for Obama with his well-known no-victory, anti-military, anti-troops DNA is a sell-out and toadie of the first magnitude.

I'll grant Gates a minimum of slack for his first year when he undoubtedly thought he could make a difference in something or other.....but to stay on and on after every single revelation about the Usurper indicates his bent for the destruction of America and it's national defense, THAT is indefensible.

Hic, haec, hac.....I was appointed, I stayed, I'm still a HACK and I'll keep collecting my substantial salary.

Clinton appointed Sandy Burglar to the same position.

It seems the Dems see the post as a plum for toadies, lickspittles, hacks....and criminals.
