Photographic Proof of What's Causing Sea Turtles to be Endangered (Hint, it's Not America's Fault)

We are constantly told that Americans are the ones destroying the planet and thus creating many species on the earth to become extinct, but maybe, just maybe we are not the problem. At I have always said that America is the friendliest country when it comes to the environment and animals.

So for some proof that Sea Turtles are not becoming extinct because of the lights on beaches during the season that the sea turtles hatch their eggs, take a look at what the citizens of Costa Rica are doing to help save the sea turtles. OK they are not exactly taking the eggs to help them hatch, they are harvesting them to sell to others who will either eat them, or hatch them to sell the turtles.

As someone has told me when I received this, Too bad we can't harvest their eggs. What a shame this is. Has anyone pointed out that the harvesting of these eggs will destroy the very population they depend on for these eggs??

Maybe Rush should start harvesting the eggs on his portion of the beach.

There are many places in Mexico were the forbidden turtle eggs are sold on the Black Market. Police know they’ve been eating turtle eggs for a thousand years, it’s kind of hard to get them to stop.

I agree, but to claim we need to turn off the lights along our coastal areas if ridiculous to say the least.

...not really...like the patterns on solar cells is interfering with migration/breeding of insects...

and of course those massive Cuisinart blenders known as wind farms dicing up migratory birds and rare predators.

It is not just the campesino class that eats the turtle eggs. My boss, a publisher, in El Salvador who grew up in San Francisco, CA would buy them on the street and eat em up.

I received these photos over a month ago. Two sources tell me this beach was grandfathered in for 48,000 eggs but these same sources also say no one is there counting

99% of all species that have ever lived are now extinct.

My daughter “Snoped” this and said it is all false. This was a government project to actually save the eggs for incubation. I did not snope it myself but just going by what she told me.

It’s hard nowadays trusting Snopes after it was found out that they were a liberal couple living in Los Angeles.

I’ve known the couple since before they were a couple (i.e., for decades), and it’s a shame that their (previously good) research techniques have degraded so far.

You need to look at "Costa Rican Villagers Sell Turtle Eggs to Save Sea Turtles, but Feud with Scientists"

"In the early 1980s, scientists learned that because of limited space on the beach, females arriving later destroy the first laid eggs. The researchers wondered: why not let poachers have the doomed eggs?"

American hunters make similar arguments, where legitimate harvesting can help a population or at least not hurt it. Let's not get like the libs and make knee-jerk comparisons.

Were they previously libs or did they slowly turn into ‘them’?

I quit trusting Snopes when they began constantly using Wikipedia as one of their trusted sources in some investigations of theirs.

Since 70-80% of the first-laid nests are destroyed, people are allowed to harvest from them. The eggs are protected then, and the beach is not flooded with light and late poachers are prosecuted. This productive use has allowed an increase of 20% in the actual successful hatchings, overall, as the new eggs aren't now laid in places that have decaying crushed eggs.

BTW, there are definitely people counting the success of the program (this has gone on for more than a decade). It has been a divide among and within scientific and activist communities--the program hasn't gone unnoticed.

My daughter “Snoped” this and said it is all false. This was a government project to actually save the eggs for incubation.

I did quite a bit of online research about this around 1 or 2 years ago. The project is regulated by the government, but it is true that a cooperative run by townspeople legally harvest and sell the eggs.

My recollection is that some conservationists had some complaints about the way the townspeople were running the program and associated corruption, but it was allowed to continue.

Interesting, but it still not change the fact that we are not allowed such a benefit. Kind of like pumping oil from the Gulf, because we are the Evil Empire of the left we are restricted.

However the friendly godly Chinese, and Brazilians, and Russians, and Mexicans can get all the oil they want from the Gulf.

---------------------------------------------------

By the way, as an aside. My calculations, added to the historical record I am predicting the the Democrats could have as few as 120 seats in the House when we wake up on November 3rd.

It's a long article I am working on, but if my calculations are correct, the world is not prepared for what is going to happen.

We will need to coin a new word to describe the blood bath they are in store for.

I need to go cut grass, be back in 40 min to read your response to my prediction.
