Presidency on the verge of nervous breakdown: 5 reasons why Obama’s future looks increasingly bleak
The London Telegraph ^ | October 10, 2010 (10/10/10) | Nile Gardiner

Forget the myth of an Obama recovery. The past week has been disastrous for the White House and America’s increasingly disillusioned Left. No wonder the angry and desperate Vice President Joe Biden is talking about “playing hell” if his party suffers defeat in November.

Here are five reasons why the Obama presidency’s outlook is getting significantly worse, not better:

1. A new Gallup poll suggests the November mid-terms could result in the biggest victory for Republicans in the House since 1894

Gallup’s latest poll is absolutely devastating in its analysis of the Democrats’ prospects for November 2, projecting a 13 point lead for the Republicans based on higher overall turnout, and a staggering 18 point lead if turnout is low. In Gallup’s view:

If there is a widely disproportionate skew in turnout toward Republican voters and their national vote lead ends up being in the double digits, the Republican gains would be very substantial.

As leading election analyst Michael Barone noted, the Gallup numbers “suggest it looks like 1894, when Republicans gained more than 100 seats in a House of approximately 350 seats.” If the Gallup poll proves accurate, we could be looking at a GOP victory in the House of Representatives of absolutely historic proportions, a scenario frightening enough to give even the most seasoned Obama White House adviser nightmares.

2. The Senate now hangs in the balance

Rasmussen’s latest projection has both the Democrats and Republicans with 48 seats in the Senate, with Florida moving into the solid GOP camp, and West Virginia moving from toss up to leans GOP. Four states (all Democrat) are now in the toss-up category: California, Illinois, Nevada and Washington...

I think the Obamanator might end up hiding in the mountain caves around the Afgan,Paki border along with his buddy Osama. After the election,a real American government might drop a bomb on him.

Bogie was the greatest, he could play any role, from pathetic Captain Queeg to Rick Blaine to Charlie Allnut.

I’m kind of disappointed that the article does not mention the ‘nervous breakdown’ alluded to in the article title.....

There was nowhere to go in the article with “nervous breakdown” in the title, because it was just a figure of speech and was referring to the Obama Presidency and not to Obama himself having a nervous breakdown.

I just hope we’re not counting chickens before they’re hatched with all this speculation.

Yep. Far too much gloating going on for me, too...OK. Gloating is perhaps too strong a word. But you know what I mean.

“I just hope we’re not counting chickens before they’re hatched with all this speculation.”

Me too. I sure hope the GOP has an effective ACTION plan for poll watching, and they will FIGHT HARD.

Thinking of Algore 200, and Franken, we KNOW the dems will fight.

I doubt cheating will determine the majority in either house (it could in the Senate), the GOP should take the firmest stand and fight this time around.

Ah, I was a expecting a follow up to those high profile ‘anonymous insider’ leaks claiming that Obama was indeed bordering on breakdown and, according to the Dem insider, on prescription medication but still fading psychologically.

Dick Morris thinks we can win 100 seats in the house.

He is raising 200 million to do just that.

“No no no, eyes have to be watching 24/7 for many days after the polls to minimize the appearance of “instant voting machines” and the like.”

You are right! I stand corrected! (ISC - as hubby says it).
