Accenting again the campaign focus she has placed on veterans' affairs, Sen. Barbara Boxer on Sunday formally opened a veterans' center at Pasadena City College and was later brought to tears by a forceful defense of her record by Sen. Daniel Inouye of Hawaii, a highly decorated member of Congress.
Inouye joined Boxer for her formal endorsement by the political action committee of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, whose California chairman also praised Boxer's work on behalf of veterans.

Hey VFW is a single issue type of organization focused upon that issue.
This old Vet says to ‘H’ with Boxer, and is going to contribute to the pile of ballots needed to fire her azz. She isn’t the only one out there supporting the VFW, and she isn’t the only one not supporting California. Get rid of her, and work on the rest. Boxer up, and shipper out.
This sums me up as well. This was going to be the year I was finally going to take the plunge and become a life member too.
Perhaps in time...when all the older types who are in power...who STILL don't know the diff between a dem and a republican (the greatest generation did some great things in their time...but raised some really messed up kids...and now have become a voting block for whoever promises them the most stuff...). Perhaps when some of those Vietnam vets who are in charge who are apparently 60's hippies...John Kerry type vets are gone.
Perhaps when some real leaders emerge...then I will re-join.
“But I will not renew - the organization is politically bankrupt.”
Consider joining your local American Legion. The national leadership is much more conservative than the VFW.

Our VFW sucks. Everyone there is a war hero, with a mountain of stories to tell. I found out early on, that when questioned about details, they tend to shut up or leave. Details tend to be a turn off for them. The more grand the story, I swear there were at least 6 self proclaimed tunnel rats, the more likely they would skidaddle when prodded for minor details. I don’t even think these guys were deployed, but they had plenty of stories to tell if they thought they could get away with it (and you were buying the beer and shots).
Many of those that did get deployed, seem to be on some sort of psychological disability, and spend the day at the bar at the VFW, unable to work. (I personally think the disorder is “drinkumtoomuchum”).
They are mostly democrat it seems.
Even though I hated that place, I supported them for years, while actually spending my time with the Legion, a place I still enjoy going, though I don’t find as much time anymore to do so (I put the cork in the bottle a few years back, and they won’t let me smoke my cigars there anymore).
Every time dues come for the VFW, I begrudgingly pay up, though I’m not sure why, because I haven’t gone in years.
But, I still love the Legion, our group is great, I can’t say enough good things about each and every one of em, and they are always tops on my priority list when dues time comes around.
There just seems to be a mental difference between the two. We have vets from WW2 and Korea in the legion, who came home, horribly injured, and went on to become successful business owners, while the VFW here seems to be a giant pity party, who blame Uncle Sam for all their woes in life.
I can’t speak for other regions, that is just the observation of my local groups.
This post made me think about getting involved again, tons of older vets out there who need assistance and visitation, that was one of the things I liked about our Legion, very active in helping out the older guys and their wives.
(In all fairness, I haven’t been to the VFW in years, so with the influx of new vets coming in, it may be completely different than I remember it, and I should go check it out again sometime)
I’d encourage all of my fellow VFW members to get involved and reverse this trend that VFW PAC seems to be suffering. There is obviously a problem with their criteria, and maybe it has to do with emphasizing benefits as opposed to emphasizing readiness and and the ability to win wars.
I am seeing a serious disconnect between certain organizations and the people that are (or would be) members. First the AARP, after Obama care they no longer speak for seniors. Next, a group of Florida doctors protest their own AMA, saying it doesn’t speak for them. Again, Obamacare is to blame. NOW long ago lost the right to speak for the vast majority of women. After the special deal it cut for McCain Feingold II, the NRA is increasingly backing Democrats in this upcoming election, further eroding the support of its members. More and more blacks are fed up with black ‘spokespersons’ like Jackson, Sharpton, especially over their defense of Obama. Union rank and file are increasingly upset that their dues are being used to fund things that they don’t agree with such as pro immigration rallies. I don’t even want to get into the disgust that Republicans feel towards the GOP. Individual churches are aghast at the pro homosexual attitude of the national organization. I could go on and on. Now the VFW.
Do the leaders of the VFW not understand that Boxer represents all that they were fighting against?!?!
She seems to hate the military! She seems to hate America from what we can tell by her unpatriotic statements.
*I am a current member of the VFW. I will be a current member through the end of the year.
But I will not renew - the organization is politically bankrupt. Boxers attitude toward the services sucks.*
Yep, no renewal. A new Veteran’s organization should be formed.
One that does not endorse those that are unpatriotic!

Why are you supporting the enemy ?
So long as you support Ms Boxer
you have become the enemy to this Nation
i swore to defend this Nation from all enemies
foreign and domestic !Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States
You have become the domestic enemy !
NO
Their members probably watch CNN or ABC, NBC, CBS and are uninformed. I, personally, know clueless people who vote democrat, and they lead conservative lifestyles. It's like banging my head against the wall when I try to talk politics with them.
Your point is well taken. ‘Tis a shame—I would think that military service would instill some kind of right thinking, but people are people.
Guilt is corrosive. At some point, you cannot let it control you.
The only antidote I know is to hand it over to Jesus Christ.
Your comment about the kid being faster cracked me up!!
Hotair reporting that VFW is now insisting that the PAC rescind endorsements. Tried to get link but think the VFW server may be overwhelmed at the moment.
