Bloomberg Slams Board of Elections for Failure to Mail Military Ballots [NYC is why they out there]

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg slammed the state's Board of Elections on Monday for failing to mail out absentee ballots to military and overseas voters from New York City and four additional counties.

"I don’t know whether or not the Board of Elections has failed to send out absentee ballots to the military or anybody else, but if they have failed it really is reprehensible," Bloomberg told Fox News. "We send our young men and women overseas to fight and to die for us and we don’t care enough to make sure they get the right to exercise their franchise? That’s what they’re over there fighting for as much as anything else."

FoxNews.com first reported Sunday that New York had not mailed out absentee ballots to all its 320,000 military servicemen and women and overseas voters, in clear violation of the MOVE Act.

I don’t understand why they have to be mailed. Why not authorize each captain to print them out and give to his/her people. Then mail them back. Its insane.

NYC is why they’re not home!

FNYC

Sorry but way too much has happened since 9-11-2001 for me to care about NYC any longer.

this is just CYA

did he order that ballots should be shipped immediately via overnight emergency air, or is it conveniently too late?

or is this a ploy to ‘extend’ voting so all military ballots can be counted... while also ‘finding’ new votes locally?

Interference with military ballots should be made a felony with the possible application of the death penalty.

Voting in two districts also.

The failure is deliberate. The election is invalid until these votes are in.

Bloomburg: "I don’t know whether or not the Board of Elections has failed to send out absentee ballots to the military..."

How can he NOT know? Plausable deniability?? Words fail me. And politicians wonder why we are so fed up with them.

The stopped clock speaks.

You may be right about plausible deniability but the Board of Elections in NYC is monumentally screwed up. Always was always will be.

Thanks for the comeback! So many people who died on 9/11 were non-NYers (as if it mattered!) although most were American citizens. I’ve had to listen to this FR hatred for the victims of that catastrophe for years.

Love your moniker. You don’t happen to live in the Dakota, do you?

No, I don't live in the Dakota, but I have had circumstances that would take me right past it. Funny you should ask. :-)

I'm just tired of people knocking NY because SOME of it is liberal, or SOME of it is dysfunctional. Comments like those make conservative NYers suffer twice. Once because we have to endure the cr@p that's here, and secondly, due to comments that show a lack of appreciation for the conservative population. It's not hatred. It's sometimes prejudice, and sometimes thoughtlessness. Sometimes people enjoy thinking that there's no one here except liberal elites or wannabes.

NEW YORK IS AMERICA TOO! NY got hit by 9/11, and America got hit just as much.

So, you're NYC, too?

I have an apartment in NYC and a house in Jersey. Lauren Bacall lives - of course - in the Dakota. Who can forget her snit 30 years ago when the fans of John Lennon gathered at the gate to light candles for the fallen star. She stuck her head out the window and excoriated them for their racket, lol!

There has been hatred in the past, I’m afraid. There was one freeper (I remember his name but won’t print it) who was just awful about New York and the 9/11 victims. I’ll never forget it.

I didn’t know that Ms. Bacall lives in the Dakota! LOL! No, I came up with my name during the Calif. recall election that yielded Schwartzenegger.

Very nice, re locations. Hope you’re enjoying them. :-) If I could take a tour, I’d love to check out all that new housing on the eastern banks of the Hudson. I wonder if they get flooded, though - they’re pretty low lying.

Re 9/11 nasties: I was on another forum, and some West Coast lib-chicks (plus one in DC) were crying about having to show patriotism or else (they felt) they’d be ostracized. This was just about two weeks after 9/11.

I told them basically to STFU because there were still body parts in the streets.

Bravo, Bravo, Bravo, and thank you. I can’t help but find it rather humorous that FReepers from CaliPelosifornia disparage our beloved city.

I never knew the building across the street was called the Oliver Cromwell! As an Irish-American, I object!
