Rick Sanchez talks to Post about offensive remarks
Washington Post ^ | 10/11/10 | Online interview with public

Detroit, Mich.: How has the last couple of weeks changed you?

Rick Sanchez: Thank you for the question.

It has made me understand that words matter, even more so than what I thought. These are very tough times for me and my family. It's very painful to go through what I'm going through and I wake up at night seemingly anxiety-ridden over prospects for my future. But I know in my heart that I am not the person who some are describing or perceiving. I simply made a mistake which I now must atone for. I will say this. My love for my family -- my relationship with my wife and my friends -- is the one thing that is helping me cope enormously.

New York, N.Y.: Had any talks with CNN, Fox News or anyone else about a new job yet?

Rick Sanchez: Thank you for the question.

At this point all I want to do is take some time off so that I can get through this and be with my wife and kids.

I am flattered by the number of calls that my representatives have received about my future employment. Then I will sit down with my representatives and comb through any of those possibilities.

Every time I was on television we had an impact. Every time I was on television my show had an impact, both from a performance standpoint and a ratings standpoint. Yes, I know some people sometimes thought I was too exuberant, maybe too passionate. But that's who I am, it's my style.

One of the points that isn't made is that Rick Sanchez achieved the success he did precisely because he is Cuban. (Affirmative action in Miami and at CNN) Would a conservative who made these remarks be treated as mercifully by the Post?

Sanchez was online Monday, Oct. 11, at 11:30 a.m. ET to discuss the controversy and his book, "Conventional Idiocy: Why the New America is Sick of Old Politics." Hmm his new book?

Incredible how this guy is being sought out by other media "journalists".

Hey, the CRIME is he wasn't fired months ago for LYING ON THE AIR ABOUT RUSH LIMBAUGH.

Oh, wait, sorry, he insulted a white conservative male, I guess that is cool with the CNN brASS.

He’s already got one book out and is apparently planning another one about “this experience.”

His entire existence is like an offensive remark... he should apologize just for being.

Would that Sanchez be ripe for picking to “our side”, now that he has seen what marxists do to speech. I read where David Brock, Reagan’s financial advisor, is at it again, speaking of a travesty to retain the Bush tax cuts. Brock was turned, and is now a fine marxist. We can do that. We can turn a few. Besides, this bunch are actually all cowards, afraid to stand on their own and on merit.

I think it depends on what kind of jobs, if any are offered. Personally I think he’s done as a network anchor. Maybe if he realizes that it will happen. But don’t hold your breath.

Good idea but - not for this guy. This guy’s got problems that go beyond his recent remarks. I’d rather have somebody who is more stable and has more credability.

"In his heart he is an anti Semite."

My take on him is the following:

After suffering through the past two years of watching him I have concluded that Sanchez is a coward. He was sailing just fine in calm waters when he criticized Conservatives and drank the MSM Koolade.

He became unhinged when Jon Stewart made fun of him with the type of ridicule Stewart usually reserves for Conservatives.

Sanchez was so pampered up to this point that he could not handle the treatment he got from Stewart so he blew up.

He even plays the race card by telling everyone who would listen that there are no Hispanics Anchors on television since he left. The implication is that he was silenced and fired because he was one.

He is a perfect example of NVA; NO VALUE ADDED!!!

I heard his interview with one of Imus’s pals from that show. He reminded Sanchez that he was merciless AGAINST Imus during his ‘troubles’.

Sanchez simply said that was what he was paid to do.....pile on.

So now he’s been fired for speaking his truth and he’s worried about his family income? We should pity him?

Only the ‘ladies’ on the View are dumber than Sanchez and that is not saying much.

He got the respect he deserved...NONE.

"Sanchez simply said that was what he was paid to do.....pile on."

You only get the truth from a mendacious slug like Sanchez when they are desperate. Truthfulness is the real last refuge of a scoundrel.

Of course he will now go on any show (including one whose host he denigrates when IMUS was down and out) and tell his tale of woe! I heard he is even writing a book.

After listening to him i wonder what Little Scotty McClellan would be saying at this point(or I would if I was interested which I am not).
