Barbara Boxer, Code Pink's favorite Senator
American Thinker ^ | Oct 12, 2010 | Scott Swett

Posted on 10/12/2010 12:18:55 PM PDT by Interesting Times

In the final days of her most difficult reelection bid, California Senator Barbara Boxer is emphasizing veterans issues to deflect criticism of her long history of undermining the US military, a cynical strategy that has garnered an endorsement from the increasingly leftist VFW.  At the recent opening of a new veterans' center in Pasadena, Boxer was overcome with emotion as Senator Inouye of Hawaii defended her record of support for veterans and veterans' issues.

Let's review a few facts that Boxer and her handlers hope the voters won't recall.

In Congress during the Cold War, Boxer consistently worked to cut military funding for projects such as the Patriot missile and stealth aircraft, and supported a Congressional Black Caucus recommendation to cut the defense budget in half.  In 1991, she sponsored a House resolution demanding prior Congressional approval of all covert US actions overseas - a measure that would have crippled anti-terrorist efforts.  The radical proposal was defeated unanimously.

As a US Senator, Boxer voted against health care reconciliation bill amendments to exempt veterans from a new tax on medical devices, including prosthetics such as artificial limbs.

Perhaps the most revealing window into Boxer's true feelings towards our military is her close alliance with Code Pink, a radical leftist group that reviles American troops as terrorists and assassins while praising their enemies as freedom fighters.  For years, Code Pink has viciously harassed wounded veterans and their families outside Walter Reed Hospital, even telling the mother of a slain Navy Seal that her son "deserved to die."  Code Pink actively supports terror groups such as Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood, the Taliban, Hezbollah and al Qaeda.

The Code Pink website repeatedly praises "our beloved Barbara Boxer."  And why not?  Boxer has worked with the group and supported its goals on many occasions.  In early 2005, Boxer was the only member of the Senate to oppose certifying the Electoral College result that returned George Bush to office for a second term.  Code Pink hosted rallies and participated in various demonstrations and marches to "defend democracy" against the results of the 2004 elections.  They wrapped up the event at Senator Boxer's California office, "singing her songs of thanks."

Code Pink's leaders had just returned from Fallujah, Iraq, where 51 Americans had been killed and 560 wounded in the US Marines' heaviest urban combat since the Vietnam War.  Code Pink delivered $600,000 in cash and supplies to the very insurgents the Marines had been fighting against - quite literally giving aid and comfort to America's enemies in a time of war.  As noted in Islam Online, a diplomatic courtesy letter from Barbara Boxer helped make the trip possible.

In early 2006, Code Pink cheered as Boxer became one of only three Senators to support a resolution to censure President Bush for wiretapping US citizens; specifically, citizens who were  communicating with terrorist organizations overseas.  Citizens like the members of Code Pink.

It's something to keep in mind when you see Barbara Boxer weeping over American veterans.

There is nothing new under this sun.... California deserves Boxer, and she deserves California.

So, we should just lie down and take it, right? Not me! Spartacus didn't have the internet, the Tea Party does.

Besides, United States Senators affect us all. Even if we don't live in and can't vote against Boxer.

Actually, this dimwit just had to sit there and wait for her opponent to screw up, and she won.
Some Dem PI did all her dirty work and she slinked in.

Yes, in a normal world, her actions would be treason.

Yes, in a normal world, her actions would be treason.

Her words and actions are treasonous. So far, no one in the political world deems it within their oath to call her on it. Which begs the question: "Whose side are they on?".

Political Correctness has run amok in this country since you were defending us in Vietnam. Otherwise that other leftist shill - Jane Fonda - would have been prosecuted for her treasonous conduct in Vietnam.

Semper Fi,

Yes, Hanoi Jane Fonda and Hanoi John Kerry several others should have been tried for treason, but most of the media was on their side.

There was no doubt in my mind whose side the Democrat-controlled congress was on in 1974 when they cut off all our support of the South Vietnamese, especially air support, and thus handed South Vietnam to their comrades in North Vietnam.

2. Our double victory includes Bolton's delayed confirmation. In a series of surprising events, the republicans were forced to send his vote to the senate as a no recommendation. Just as word of this news reached us, we also heard from our beloved Barbara Boxer, who had dug into her bag of tricks and put a HOLD vote on this issue, with a request for more information, which the State Department is still sitting on. Thanks to her, we have won a few more days to press forward with our campaign against Bolton. We THANK Barbara Boxer yet again for being a true representative of the people and for standing up to the bullies in the White House and Congress. We ask everyone, especially her Californian constituents, to call Barbara Boxer to THANK HER, and to support her in BLOCKING THE VOTE!

Blocking the vote! On John Bolton. Hmmm. I wonder if any of those who lost relatives on 9/11 at the WTC, the Pentagon, or in Pennsylvania or any of those who have had a loved one killed or wounded in the greater war on terror have read that paragraph and understand how truly insidious these women are.

Boxer has to be voted out. Has to be.

This article is another one of those many times when original work done by Freepers and posted here and elsewhere affect the discussion.

Interesting Times and Kristinn have both done amazing work here at FR to the general "glory" of all Freepers everywhere. Both have been "Freepers of the Year" but this unique melding of research and writing should adversely impact Senator Boxer's re-election effort.

For that I commend them both most heartily.

Regards,

TS

Thanks, and thanks. Good article. Hopefully it’ll get picked up by Fiorina when Obama campaigns with Boxer in California next week.

Don’t call here “Ma’am;” don’t call her “Senator;” perhaps a more fit term would be “Traitor.”
