Biden: GOP could challenge Social Security in court
The Hill ^ | 10-12-10 | Michael O'Brien

Vice President Biden suggested Monday evening that Republicans might try to challenge Social Security in court in the same manner they've challenged healthcare reform.

The vice president asserted that the GOP could wage a challenge to Social Security's constitutionality over the entitlement program's requirement that all taxpayers participate.

Biden noted at a fundraiser for Dan Onorato, the Democratic candidate for governor of Pennsylvania, that "Tom Corbett is one of a dozen Republican attorneys general actually suing” to challenge the healthcare law, referring to the state's attorney general and GOP candidate for governor.

"I wonder if next it’s Social Security," Biden added, according to a pool report. "We mandate you do that, too.”

Joes has gone into the deep end. How can anyone take him seriously. The Dimwits have failed to deliver COLA for two years in a row because of their excessive spending, and now Biden delivers this scare tactic?

If there is any such thing as an idiot zone, Biden would take up all of it.

Biden should be more worried they will be investing the corruption in this Democrat administration.

Social Security facts:

Until the 1980s SS cards expressly stated the number and card were not to be used for identification purposes.

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary.

2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Income. Now it’s 7.65% on the first $90,000

3.) That the money put into the Program would be deductible from income-tax. No longer tax deductible

4.) That the money would be put into an independent ‘Trust Fund’ and would be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other.

Under Johnson and a Democratic controlled congress, the money was moved to The General Fund and Spent.

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.

Under Clinton & Gore Up to 85% of your Social Security can be taxed.

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the ‘tie-breaking’ deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was VP

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?

A: That’s right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security, even though they never paid a dime into it!

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

The worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it and believe that the Democrats are “for the people.”

AND CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!

now that you mention it...

why am i paying into a ponzi scheme again? i thought they were illegal.

and where does the federal govt get the authority to demand i hand over 15% of my income so they can pay for other peoples retirement?

just because its been done for decades does not make it right or legal. please show me the line in the Constitution that gives them the right to demand i hand over my property for the private benefit of others

FDR extorted, intimidated or bribed SCOTUS in the 30s into allowing his patently unconstitutional programs, including the so-called “social security”. If Americans wanted to raise a challenge now, they waited too long — Hussein has loaded the court with hard-core leftists.

Mr. Vice President, sir, moron, social security has ALREADY been before the Supreme court and not recently either. Under the constitution, according to the court in like ah, 1962 or something, Congress has broad authority to TAX, which really is what Social security is, a payroll tax. Meanwhile, you guys have mandated that people BUY insurance on their bodies, which is NOTHING like the power to tax and not constitutional either.

The Democrat's spending has nothing to do with the lack of COLA. That's based on a formula set by 30 years ago. But I would point out to Biden that the people DID challenge the constitutionality of Social Security 70-odd years ago and the Supreme Court ruled against them in three or four decisions in the late 30's.
