Thanks for the ping, my FRiend.

I haven’t posted in what seems like forever. Many, many family health issues keep me occupied with other more important responsibilities.

For many reasons I have a good feeling about this rescue of these tough, brave and strong-willed men.

Two of those reasons are American ingenuity and American workers. One, the bits used for drilling were made in good old Salem, VA, home of Morgan Griffith, who is the Republican running against democrat Rich Boucher in the hotly contested 9th congrssional district, and my home, as well. Second, the drill operator is from America, and he knows “the feel” of the drill making its way down the hard rock.

Seriously though, my God be with all the rescuers, the families of these miners and most of all, the miners themselves.

I surely hope the Chilean government and press never release the names of the miners. If so, they will be hounded for interviews and most likely book and movie deals. If their names are released I would hope they ask for as much money as possible for book and movie rights. Quite simply, they have earned the rights to all the money they can get.

Glad to see you on, my FRiend. I have not followed the story very closely; but, this evening I think I heard that the drill was made in PA, not VA. Perhaps part one place and part in another?

Boucher needs to GO! Needs to have that smirk wiped right off his moon face. Maybe I need to cross the state line and do some groundwork for Morgan.

There was a report that they've all agreed that they're going to share any money that comes their way. They're hoping that they make enough that none of them ever has to work in the mines again.

Another report is that there were tensions between the main group and a group of five miners who were considered their inferiors because they were contract laborers. That group actually set up a separate camp some distance from the others. And one of the wives said that the men have all agreed never to talk about what happened during the first 17 days, between the cave in and the first drill breaking through to them. Apparently bad stuff went down.
