CNN Just Clocked Its Worst Primetime Ratings In 10 Years Thanks To Eliot Spitzer And Larry King

CNN executives say they want to give Eliot Spitzer and Kathleen Parker's week-old discussion program time to grow. But perhaps they're reconsidering in light of the show's performance Monday night, when it drew just 311,000 viewers at 8 p.m., according to Nielsen Media Research, far fewer than it had any night last week following its Oct. 4 premiere.

The low numbers for "Parker Spitzer" helped give CNN its worst average primetime ratings in 10 years. (See chart below) As did "Larry King Live," whose exclusive interview with Afghan President Hamid Karzai wasn't enough to give him more than 196,000 total viewers at 9 p.m.

What a farce. The old hippies grown into positions of power and their acolytes would rather go down with the ship than admit their outdated and unrealistic viewpoints need a re-think.

Unless CNN can beg Rush Limbaugh to host a show, they’re history.

Who is going to sit there and listen to anything Spitzer has to say?? I can just see it. A husban and wife sit down and the wife says “ Isn’t that that Yankee guy from NY the politician who was paying a whore” the channel is changed with a fast click.

The hope is that the center-of-the-road cable news network could start to compete with the more partisan Fox News Channel and MSNBC, whose audiences trounce CNN's.

The trouble with "center-of-the-road" is that somebody moved the "center".

LEAVE CNN ALONE!

CNN’s “Parker Spitzer” debuts to scathing reviews (”unbearable” “icky” “obnoxious” “vapid”) Reuters October 5, 2010

CNN courts Couric NYPost October 7, 2010

Friends of Katie Couric are saying the chances of her remaining at CBS are get ting slimmer. CNN appears especially eager to sign Couric now that the new show starring ex-Gov. Eliot Spitzer is off to a stumbling start.

CNN is soon to be the ONANISM channel. They watch THEMSELVES.

I knew hippies would do this eventually. Those Woodstock worshiping hippies were given 40 years to wreck the country, and they did. The wealth of U.S. which has been absorbing damage they have inflicted has just run out.

Spitzer messing with a hooker not much older than his daughter and looking a lot like his daughter.

What was his wife thinking when she remained married to the pervert.

I think MSNBC should give Coulter a show right after Olberman so he can get the lead-in ratings.

You’d think the “suits” would wake up and start some conservative programing. Or are they simply waiting on the government subsidies to kick in.

I personally met King twice, when a friend was appearing on his show. Those meetings confirmed the impression I had from the random times prior to that when I had caught part of his broadcasts - one of the dumbest people in the broadcast media industry.

I can understand that. I think people say the same thing about the contents of unclaimed tupperware containers in the fridge at work.

I figured it couldn't really be as bad as everybody said. It's way worse. I gave it a few minutes before I had to turn it off.

Two contemptible people, with no chemistry and no credibility, bringing on guests to tell us how dumb and mean Sara Palin is. What a formula!
