Uncle slam! Gay nephew blasts Carl (Paladino)
NY Post ^ | October 13, 2010 | REBECCA ROSENBERG in Buffalo and JENNIFER FERMINO in New York

Carl Paladino's openly gay nephew -- whom the candidate points to as proof he's no homophobe -- said yesterday he was "very offended" by his uncle's anti-gay rants.

Jeff Hannon, 23, a staffer for the Paladino campaign, also hasn't shown up at work since the bomb-throwing GOP gubernatorial hopeful made his caustic comments about homosexuality, one of Hannon's co-workers told The Post.

In a brief phone interview yesterday, Hannon, in his first public remarks on the incident, told The Post, "Obviously, I'm very offended by his comments."

Hannon said he had no further comments "right now," before hanging up.

The hunky, 6-foot-2 staffer hasn't been seen at campaign headquarters in Buffalo since Sunday, one worker said.

"Everybody was talking about it today. They are worried about him," said the worker. "They think he's upset."

Also from the NY Post:

Paladino pressured by family to apologize for anti-gay comments

Carl Paladino’s family pressured him to apologize for his anti-homosexual rants because they were concerned about his gay nephew, the ultra right wing rabbi who drafted the controversial speech said.

Rabbi Yehuda Levin, who represents an umbrella organization of ultra-Orthodox clerics, said that Paladino’s campaign manager Michael Caputo called him after Paladino’s mea culpa and told him that the Republican candidate had no choice but to apologize.

"He [Caputo] said he had to do it because of his nephew," said Levin.

"He said he was receiving pressure from his family."

Pointing out something true and obvious is not demeaning or hateful.

Meanwhile, how many straight associates praise Mr. Paladino? Or they don’t count?

I really believe that deep down, the rage that manifests itself in Queers comes from their realization just what an abomination that their lifestyle is.

It is the ultimate in perversion and they know it! This is why they crave not only acceptance, but also approval. They feel this will give them the piece they desire. It will not.

It was THE KID who shivved him:

This stupid, disloyal cr@pweasel shafted his Uncle by ACTUALLY TALKING TO THE NY POST! IF THIS DON'T BEAT ALL!

Proof positive that homosexuals are disordered. Cuomo will probably hire him now.

I'd love to find out if Paladino paid for the twerp's college education.

There are many people who do not care for the gay life style and do not support it. So what? Paladino makes his opinion known, and somehow he does not have the right to do that? How about the radical left’s opinion and ugly attacks on the family and success of Sarah Palin? They get a pass on that, always!

Double standard, anyone?

someone posted a link to a site that chronicled the folsom street fair in SF. if you read through it, read the text on the banners and shirts and pants that the gays were trotting around, i find it hard to believe that you could be offended by saying that homo activity is not as successful as hetero activity when they are walking around with shirts that say “official c**ksuker for life” and much worse!!!

Paladino, it seems to me, should profess his love for his nephew and still proclaim his abhorrence of the young man's lifestyle.

IMO one should not sacrifice one’s core beliefs because of a close relative or friend's differing ones.

You can care for someone without endorsing the other’s way of life.

Christ said we must love one another as we love ourselves. He didn't say we had to love what the the other does or doesn't do.

Somebody on another thread said that this Levin is liberal. This whole story smells as it was Levin’s people that helped write the speech and then gave an unedited copy to the press. Now he’s flapping his gums. Is it possible that this was a Cuomo/Levin setup?

Ummm ... I think you meant to say “peace they desire.” Very funny Freudian slip.

Of course, I agree with you 100%. But, I do have to say that, as most of us learned as children, you really don’t have to tell all the truths you know. Though, actually, in my own case, it was my mother who invariably blurted out whatever was on her mind. As she and I got older, I used to say to her, “Mom, do you ever have an opinion that goes unexpressed?”

I kind of wish that in this case, Paladino hadn’t expressed his.

ROFLMAO! I took a little break from midterms and had used that word several times for something I was writing.

I guess I had one of those “their = there” moments! LOL!
