NEW YORK – A vast network of Armenian gangsters and their associates used phantom health care clinics and other means to try to cheat Medicare out of $163 million, the largest fraud by one criminal enterprise in the program's history, U.S. authorities said Wednesday.
Federal prosecutors in New York and elsewhere charged 73 people. Most of the defendants were captured during raids Wednesday morning in New York City and Los Angeles, but there also were arrests in New Mexico, Georgia and Ohio.

And every day in the lunch room I have to watch motor scooter commercials about how Medicare will pay for everything!
I wonder which one of them decided to stop the contributions.
Medicare is the largest Medicare scam ever.
More proof that the government is SO large that it is impossible to oversee.

Medicare pays an average of $5,200 per wheelchair, but add-on accessories can bring the total up to $10,000, making it one of the most expensive items for which Medicare will reimburse.

I've seen numerous people using these scooters as their primary mode of transportation. On one hand it's sad to see but these people are getting a 'free' scooter and using it like a car. I'm sure they just go get a new free scooter after they beat their old one up.

Doing research on that topic - I interviewed several residents of a nursing home (not all elderly). A majority said they wished they had waited before surrendering their lives to their skooter dependancy. They were becoming more obese and helpless.
Interesting.
Wonder if they are ILLEGALS?
There has to be gangster clerks on the inside processing & approving these “claims.”
