White House press secretary Robert Gibbs responds to an inquiry that Michelle Obama was campaigning inside a polling place while she was early voting.
"She was telling me how important it was to vote to keep her husbands agenda going," a man claimed First Lady Michelle Obama told him inside a polling place.
"She's a remarkable campaigner," Gibbs said.

Its not wrong if they do it. Nor is it illegal when a celebrity does it.
She has no shame-and it is unlikely she will get into any trouble On the other hand the electrician may get into some hot water
So basically he admitted it. She’s a great campaigner and she was campaigning inside a polling place.
Fry her d*mn *ss!
(Whew! That would make a whole lot of stink, wouldn’t it?)
She can do it with impunity, as she has the shield of protective melanin going for her.
The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
President Gibbs is just trying not to be a racist.
"Who you gonna believe? Me, or your lyin' eyes and ears?"
Chicago? Mr. Dennis Campbell, may be a marked man as far a democrats are concerned. I would want witness protection plan, from the potential hostility of the Obama people. I am glad I don’t live in Chicago.

Gibbs is correct..she didnt break the law.
Me-chelle is a sasquatch and not affected by human laws.
“First Lady Michelle Obama dons a weightlifter’s support belt as she prepares to clean and jerk fellow early voter Anna Roberts at a Chicago polling place Wednesday.”
She is just trying to take attention away from that other BIG thing in the pic!
This is settled law... she’s not White.
Maybe it’s an external device instead of getting her stomach stapled?
We have to verify things to make sure no one is tricked by the Democrats.
Too many people forget that she's not just a giant levitating Wookie, she's also a voter ~ and as I always say, as I'm sure she does as well, VOTE EARLY AND OFTEN!
LOL!!!!! Then she would be the record holder!
As if there`s any worry as to how that motley crew are voting
What is that, some kinda back brace or something
FIRST LADY CAMPAIGNED INSIDE POLLING PLACE
Thu Oct 14 2010 16:19:25 ET
First lady Michelle Obama appears to have violated Illinois law — when she engaged in political discussion at a polling place!
The drama began after Mrs. Obama stopped off at the Martin Luther King Center on the south side of Chicago to cast an early vote.
After finishing at the machine, Obama went back to the desk and handed in her voting key.
She let voters including electrician Dennis Campbell, 56, take some photos.
“She was telling me how important it was to vote to keep her husband’s agenda going,” Campbell said.
According to the pool reporter at the scene, the conversation took place IN the voting center not far from the booths.
Illinois state law — Sec. 17-29 (a) — states: “No judge of election, pollwatcher, or other person shall, at any primary or election, do any electioneering or soliciting of votes or engage in any political discussion within any polling place, within 100 feet of any polling place.”
WHITE HOUSE DEFENDS ELECTIONEERING
When questioned about the brazen nature of Mrs. Obama’s campaigning, press secretary Robert Gibbs defended the action.
“I don’t think it would be much to imagine, the First Lady might support her husband’s agenda,” Gibbs smiled.
“Since Michelle was there simply as a voter...”
You are incorrect. No one is allowed to campaign within a certain number of feet from the poll, and certainly not while inside the poll location.
However, like others have pointed out, she is the First Lady and she will be given a pass on this.
I don’t usually post this kind of post but:
WHAT THE HELL IS SHE WEARING? I miss Laura Bush; even Hilary knew how to wear a pantsuit. Michelle Zero looks like a bag lady who dressed herself out of a Salvation Army bin (no offense to the S.A.)
...muttering to myself....”no class, no class, no class.....”
LOL! Comment of the day. A weightlifter's belt was exactly what I thought of too.
Hey Grandpa, what's for supper!?
If Manchelle can do this, I guess it’s okay for me to go to my local polling place and tell people there how important it is to vote to stop Obama’s agenda.
This is WRONG on SO many levels...it’s more than just campaigning within the booth area—the photo op surely threatens anonymity.
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here. This is the WAR ROOM!
The Chicago Tribune has NOTHING on this clear violation of campaign law. Thanks to Drudge once agin for bringing this our attention.
Somebody with photoshop skills should put a vaudville hook in the hand that's reaching out in the left-hand side of the photo, and put the crook around Manchelle's neck as if to yank her out of the photo.
It’s really not that big a deal. Sure it could be ‘technically’ improper, and a law suit could be filed.
More B.S., and more lawyers making more money and would it help?
No. So Michelle appealed to one voter. My God, she is the President’s Wife. It’s not like her bias is any secret.
The real issue is, what is Barry up to, while the media has us focused on an issue which will produce a mild reaction among the general public.
What are the status of election officials, the illegal voters, the dead voters, the mail in voters, the military voters.
The States reported a huge amount of voters that were dead or illegal, yet still voted, still were on the ‘roles’.
Any chance they will ever remove them?
It's on RFDTV every Sunday evening.
My son and daughter-in-law (both around 30 years old) were watching it with me one week. They didn't seem to understand the appeal of the show.
Since it's not that big of a deal, I should be able to go to my local polling place and tell another voter that it's important to stop Obama's agenda, and I won't get in trouble for it right? What's your phone number so I can call you to bail me out of jail.
As demonstrated by the Obama treatment of the Black Panther voter intimidation case, they believe Blacks are allowed to violate polling place rules.
What do you think the Obama's say about "cracker babies" when among their racist cohorts?
She’s a remarkable campaigner,” Gibbs said.
Yeah? how so?
Tell Gibbs to wipe off that brown stuff on his lips
this is brazen, in your face, we intend to steal another election attitude. either that or she is the stupidest person ever. i mean, you went to an ivy league school. got a law degree. married to a senator for 3yrs before he was given the presidency and you NEVER knew this?
I know the same law with virtually the same language in Virginia means I, as a private citizen, can wait in line at the polls and talk stuff with my friends also waiting inline.
A party official can't.
First they screw up military ballots and now they allow a Democrat to campaign in a polling place. Nice work.
Rest in Peace, Junior Sample! I’ve used BR-549 in mockery many many times thru the years...
Someone will have to file a complaint.
I’m sure Holder will investigate.
She was probably babbling in Wookienese and, without thinking, switched to English and got caught.
What the h e double hockey sticks is she wearing?
I’d be surprised if she didn’t just go ahead and fill out their ballots for them.
So the law quoted in post 23 doesn't mean what it says?
Of course he ‘dismissed’ it.
Like he did the Tea party...
No, it doesn't say "voter". It ways "other person", and that's where the courts have latitude, so what you need to do is to find out what Illinois own suppreme court says that means in the context of that law.
After all, if it means "all persons" then a son helping his elderly mother could be EXCLUDED from the polls, along with his mother, and they would be prevented from voting.
You'd then take them out and punish them for whatever it was they said.
I see a number of infringements of fundamental rights in any interpretation that says you can't talk about anything, certainly not a politician, at the polls.
BTW, the giant levitating Wookey's husband IS NOT A CANDIDATE for any of the offices on the ballot this time, so where was her "electioneering"?
The IL Elections official says she broke the law.
You ought to read the law and what it says about people helping others vote. I skimmed through it when somebody posted a link to the law on one of the threads earlier and I didn't get the impression that the law as written would stand in the way of somebody getting help to vote.
The law wouldn't say "any other person" if it didn't mean "any other person". If the simple language of a law is still wide open to the discretionary whim of some official, then we aren't operating under the rule of law. We're then operating under the rule of men.
I don't see this as something they ought to pursue legal action against Michelle Obama over, but I DO think the White House and Michelle should admit that she violated the law by mistake. The Executive Branch of our country shouldn't be sending the message that what the laws say is irrelevant.
