Posted on 10/15/2010 5:38:23 PM PDT by Delacon
Christine O’Donnell, Delaware’s Republican Senate candidate, surprised her Democratic opponent, Chris Coons, by raising more than twice as much money in the three months ending Sept. 30, according to the campaigns.
O’Donnell also has twice as much money in the bank for the final stretch of the campaign.
O’Donnell’s campaign and Federal Election Commission records show that the Republican raised $3.9 million in July, August and September; Coons reported raising $1.5 million.
She also ended the quarter with a bigger bank balance — $2.6 million – compared with Coons’s $1.3 million, fund-raising reports show. O’Donnell was the upset winner of a Republican primary in August, beating Republican Rep. Michael Castle, who was considered a shoo-in for the Senate seat formerly held by Vice President Joe Biden.
Biden and President Barack Obama traveled to Wilmington, Del., today for a fund-raiser for Coons.

Spend wisely, my child. All that money ain’t worth a hoot if you don’t target your audience with the correct message.
Bet she wins. Scott Brown was the same way. People now would vote for a Kangaroo before a Democrat. They are exposed.
Three weeks is a lifetime in politics. Especially when the polls are cooked.
Pray for America
how is possums doing?
Couldn't happen to a nicer a$$h0le
Well, maybe Dingy Harry!
I wonder how much of that money is fron DE residents and businesses.
This is great news. If this comes to pass it will be a win of epic proportions, will it not?
I hope she pulls it off.
Yes, a victory here would be the first miracle ever to come out of predictable DE.
Until Castle lost the primary Coons didn’t need any money. His was just a ‘SHOW’ campaign.
The DSCC put $170,000 in his campaign each of the last two weeks. Money is pouring in from NARAL, unions, Climate kooks...
Anyone from Del. on the thread who can report on the ad wars and the effectiveness of Christine's ads? She needs to pummel this guy.
I can’t figure it out.
Obama and Biden went to stump for Coon’s who has already won it....
Of course Biden did say of Obama, ‘his brain is bigger than his skull’...
This is just me but I think Christine has been holding back. She knows the base is fired up and doesn’t need to worry about them. She needs to pick up independents who by nature have short attention spans. She needs to get ex Castleites off the sofa and she needs to get unsatisfied dems. Look for her to start hitting hard any day now.
You are welmcome. Please put me on your ping list.
Rush says pollsters reported O’Donnell cut Coon’s lead in half after the debate. Game on !
I'm sending mo' money !
As it happens, because DE is the 3rd least populated state and the smallest state YET our senators have the same voting power as any of the 98 other senators, our candidates always tend to get a load of out of state dollars. We rely on them even. As opposed to donating to say a senator in CA or TX. Donate there to affect an election it gets spread over hundreds of square miles and millions of people. People get more bang for their outta state buck and all here. And don't forget, this is a special election to replace Biden. Be it Christine or Coons, whoever wins on Nov 2nd gets to vote right away on whatever the lameduck congress tries to send down the pike like Cap and Trade, amnesty and Card Check. Not so for most of all the other republican winners who have to wait until January when the loser dems have already voted on that stuff and left office. This one election is important and both parties know it. Send money where-ever you are!
You guys should know better than to armchair quarterback and write O’Donnell off. If there is one thing we know beyond any doubt it is that democrats lie, steal and cheat. All you have to do is watch the Barney Frank debate or the Harry Reid debate and and they were saying one lie after another. Don’t you think the people in Delaware know that? They are going down the tubes like the rest of the coluntry.
Remember Scott Brown? No one thought he could win Ted Kennedy’s seat. O’Donnell’s win is about having her being seated the day after the election and being the 42nd vote to stop Obama. Brown’s victory was about stopping Obamacare. This is the same type of race. It is about stopping Obama’s march into a great depression.
Rasmussen in his latest poll had Coons-O’Donnell at 51-40 % with a margin of error of 4.5%. That can also mean that Coons’ support is soft and O’Donnell stronger than you might think which is why Obama-Biden are there.
Taking the margin of error into consideration the poll could also very realistically read Coons at 46.5% and O’Donnell at 44.5% which is only a 2% difference. Keep in mind that if that is true Coons would be polling below 50 meaning that the undecideds would break against him. right now there is a 4% undecided which means O’Donell would win by 48.5%.
Now do you understand why Obama is in Delaware?
You guys need to play to win or if you don’t see it get off the team.
“She needs to get ex Castleites off the sofa and she needs to get unsatisfied dems. Look for her to start hitting hard any day now.:
My problem is with the Republican National Senatorial Committee and the Delaware State Republicans. Near as I can tell either group is not fully behind her. I have now made 3 or 4 donations to her campaign to try and put her over the top.
Great minds think alike. Though mine was more from a campaign money angle since I posted this article about how COD has been kicking butt re campaign funds. :)
..the albatross brought along albatross lite
who cares......no one questioned where bama got his hundreds of millions.....
Will the visit from O’Biden be good for some points for COD?
...if Palin and Hannity did an appearance together for O’Donnell she’d pull even..........
About time someone posted a photo of that nasty b**** who was moderating the debate the other night... :-)
I will be so so so happy if she can pull this off for so so so many reasons, not the least of which is to poke these RINOs running the republican party in the eye.
Zero brought half zero.
The bite me seat is totally up for grabs.
“The bite me seat is totally up for grabs”.
I love that. Wish it could fit on a bumper sticker.
I hope so too! Also hope every DE Freeper will call everyone they can and urge them to vote for O'Donnell! I have donated to Christine from down here in Florida, so hope every Freeper who can will send her a donation. Even a $10 bill will really help! Heard some folks are making $20.10 donations to various candidates.:)
With the relentless negative media coverage against O’Donnell which acts as ads for Coons, I’m not so sure this is such an advantage here.
“You guys should know better than to armchair quarterback and write ODonnell off. If there is one thing we know beyond any doubt it is that democrats lie, steal and cheat. All you have to do is watch the Barney Frank debate or the Harry Reid debate and and they were saying one lie after another.”
Not to mention Coons. If you didn’t know who he was and just listened to his opening statement in the debate, you’d swear he was the Republican candidate, going on and on about how Washington is broken and needs to change, blah, blah, blah... WELL, BUTTHOLE... WHOSE FREAKING PARTY IS **IN CHARGE** IN WASHINGTON and HAS BEEN FOR TWO YEARS? Oh, yeah... that’s right. It’s YOUR PARTY, you LYING JACKASS.
“...if Palin and Hannity did an appearance together for ODonnell shed pull even.”
I thought I read somewhere that Palin was coming to Delaware to campaign for her.
Just pledged another C-Note to the lady!
“Will the visit from OBiden be good for some points for COD”?
Since it was a 100 dollar a seat untelevised get together at the ritzy Grand Opera House in the heart of liberal bastion Wilmington, I think its more about money than votes. It certainly wasnt about pulling in the 50% unemployed black youth vote in the city hardest hit in that demographic. Preaching to the choir is what they were doing. Dare an interested citizen/riff raff ask the ex senator and president and senatorial candidate be asked a difficult question. Not exactly a political rally. In fact, I read O’Biden and Coons are going to split the proceeds. I think it definitely wont hurt COD.
Coons, the Marxist liberal being given a pass by the Piss-Stream Media.
screw the rat basterd republican backstabbing socialist light party ! !
bring the troops home to attack capital hill and rout the enemy within ! ! !~ !
I sent my TX $$$.
Lol, I wasn’t asking out of concern for the source in the terms you refer to. The reason I asked is because if all or mostly all of the contributions she’s receiving are coming from out of state, the fact that she’s outraising Coons 2 to 1 it says nothing good about in-state voter support, which of course is what she needs in order to win the election Nov. 2. OTOH, if the money is mostly coming from in-state, then the new poll jump may be just the tip of the iceberg.
In the final days, she needs to attach Obama around his neck like a millstone.
sheesh. spell checker is our friend.
please pardon me, I was under the impression that this forum is about the exchange of conservative idealism and not an english grammar symposium .
IMO a more appropriate response would be to the concept and not to the minutia of correct spelling
I sent her $100. America doesn’t need another loser like Coons.
Now THAT’s more like!! ;-)
