Laura Ricketts walks through the empty stands at Wrigley Field hours before an evening game begins, stepping at a measured pace, calmly and confidently, and greeting every Cubs employee she passes with a friendly, "Hello."
If the simple act of moving from one place to another could define a person, this stroll from the field to the owner's box is Laura in a nutshell.
She is unassuming in a way that belies her status co-owner of one of the nation's most storied sports franchises and the historic field they play on; one of four siblings in a family of immense wealth; accomplished attorney; tireless advocate for nonprofits across Chicago.

it appears that queers and muslims are applying the same chapter in Alinsky at the same time — a full media onslaught, complete with fake “events” to provide headlines.
That it one sickening article, from the humanizing crap at the beginning on down.
The Cubs play in the middle of Boystown. That’s not necessarily a part of town you want to take your sons and grandsons to for a ballgame.
I was going to Chicago a few years ago, and a native Chicagoan was telling me what to do and see in that ghastly place.
My friend said, “Go down and see the Sox, just stay with the crowd. But in spite of what you hear, don’t go within three blocks of Wrigley Field. It’s worse than San Francisco.”
Underhand windmill @ 75 mph...?
Look for more switch-hitters in the Cubs lineup.
Or a new annual Civil Rights’ game.
So, why is almost the entire article devoted to trying to twist the Catholic faith she was raised in to celebrating her Lesbian status and her baby born, presumably, with the help of a turkey baster?
It would have been nice to have read at least a couple of paragraphs on how she and her brothers planned to transform the franchise into a winning team per the headline.
Comiskey Park (it will NEVER be anything else to me) is a far better choice than Wrigley. Wrigleyville is full of over priced barely concealed gay bars with barely edible food attached.
If you get out into the real neighborhoods of Chicago, or if you stay downtown in the Loop or River North areas, you can enjoy world class meals.
We occasionally venture down there for a night away from home. But we plan carefully where we are going and what we're going to do. On a weekend during the day a walk along the river with the one you love is spectacular.
Or you can take one of the boats on an Architectural Tour and see what the true giants of Chicago history managed.
That being said we almost never spend more than 24 hours down there and we never, ever go unarmed no matter what their stupid laws say.

. . .perhaps some innovative marketing promotions such as “Fake Bat Day” or “The San Francisco Chicken.”
Maybe being a lesbian she can explain to me where the money is coming from to pay these players such huge salaries.
Great now Cubs will never be able to get off the carpet...
She has accomplished nothing, except spending wealth that someone else created.
>>> Poised to win (Chicago Cubs’ lesbian owner)
I’ll think this matters if and when the batters are told to never try to score a ball.
>>> Wrigleyville is full of over priced barely concealed gay bars with barely edible food attached.
I suppose anybody looking from the street could see a business might be a gay bar, but how do you have such insight to know the culinary quality of the food service within, for each bar yet?
Long and bitter experience with out of town clients who without fail want to go see a Cubs game at the famous Wrigley Field.
I've had more examples of overcooked meats on sticks than most people can imagine, more potato skins filled with things that potatoes shouldn't be filled with than I can remember, and more 10 dollar bottles of 'imports' than I care to talk about.
The parking in that neighborhood is impossible, the crowds after the games are drunken rowdies who think that every yard and alleyway is a public urinal, and yes, the local watering holes are full of the local homosexual men looking for fresh meat.
Do yourself a favor. Head to 35th and Shields if you want to see a ball game. 9 seasons out of 10 the Sox are winning more games. Afterwards you can head 20 or so blocks north and hit Chinatown or Greektown and get a decent meal.

Excellent advice. Chicago, block for block, has the best architecture in America, and the boat ride is a wonderful way to see it.
Ricketts - Ameritrade - her father, Joe Ricketts, started online trading. Her brother, Pete Rickets ran against Ben Nelson as a Republican for Senator in Nebraska.
Wait until Cardinal fans hear about this. It will confirm all their suspicions.
