And of course, this wouldnt have been news all the time while Barack Obama kept claiming that these shovel ready jobs had prosperity just around the corner, right? Brooks says that the admission came in an off-the-record session with the President, which kept him from reporting it. I wonder if Brooks or anyone else would have been that particular had George Bush admitted off the record that he knew Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction in 2003 or 2004, while continuing to make the argument that the war was necessary because of them. What happened to sourcing as a senior administration official? Did it not occur to Brooks that Obama was lying about these jobs over the past year to defend his economic policies, and that Brooks might have had a responsibility to make that known? Good to know that the New York Times prints all the news that fits its agenda.

I see the potential for advertisements in 2012. You start with this guy named Gus. Gus shows up in Florida with a shovel and ready to work on these projects involved in the stimulus package. Gus decides after a week, that this stimulus project in Florida was never shovel-ready. So he leaves, and moves onto state #2, state #3, etc. Eventually, you fast-forward over this sixty second commercial....and Gus is standing in Hawaii...on a lava-flow area...and then Gus says “you know...someone lied to me”.
I can think of another dozen shovel-ready commercials that could be run.
America doesn’t want “shovel-ready” jobs. We want government to stop being an obstacle to the free economy, and for democrat pols to slither back into Mordor.
Well,Jimmy Carter looks like he’s going to be a shovel ready job pretty soon.
Oh I see...he has too much INTEGRITY to tell the public the president has been lying for the past year.
How many forvorable stories has he written the past year? When he knew the president was lying? let's check...
i like the quote where O says he ‘has seen the shovels in the ground,’ and then the admission there is no such thing as shovel ready. no way he can deny he lied.
