Obama is like a Chilean miner, Harry Reid says

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has compared President Barack Obama to a trapped Chilean miner.

In a speech to supporters in Las Vegas on Sunday night, Reid said that when Obama replaced George W. Bush in the White House he found himself in a "hole so deep that he couldn't see the outside world.

"It was like the Chilean miners, but he, being the man he is, rolled up his sleeves and said 'I am going to get us out of this hole,'" Reid said at an "Early Vote GOTV" event.

At a Democratic rally in Boston on Saturday, Obama acknowledged Democrats in general were in a hole, heading up to the mid-term elections.

Let me get this straight.

When Obama says we can’t give the keys back to the Repubs. He’s obviously talking about Congress.

Yet when Dems were in control of Congress (07-08). It was Bush who had the keys.

I’m confused. /s

He does sound increasingly senile, doesn’t he? You wonder where his advisers are, though. This is such a weird and off putting comparison, you’d think somebody would have advised Reid against making it.

If it was a Freudian analogy, it does say a lot about how Harry sees Barry. The miners’ chief characteristic was helplessness. They had to depend one-hundred percent on the people at the surface for food and eventual rescue. Maybe Harry has realized Obama is helpless and in over his head. It’s a thought, anyway.

Totally agree. Republicans should stay quiet for the next 2 weeks and let the libbies keep talking. Libbies are so desperate they are saying anything and are their own worse enemy. It is so great watching them squirm.

Will he be rescued with the help of middle-aged white Americans employed by successful American companies using American technology and equipment?

He’s like a Chilean miner? You mean he has a wife AND a mistress??

Obviously, Dirty Harry confused The One with Slick Willie.

"It was like the Chilean miners, but he, being the man he is, rolled up his sleeves and said 'I am going to get us out of this hole,'" Reid said

"...so he ordered everyone to dig deeper and to exhaust every resource they had trying to dig their way deeper into the ground where they succumbed because they were foolish and went the wrong way. Oops. That's not the analogy I meant."

Only a disgusting scumbag would climb on the backs of those miners for a political point.

When digging a hole, and you are stuck in the hole; quit digging.

What a disgusting thing to say - as if those guys could have got themselves out of the hole.

Yeah, I’m sure he’d be digging (the wrong direction)

If Hussein was one of those miners they’d still be headed for hte center of the earth:

“Obama says US will dig itself out of economic hole’ - The Times of India http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/business/international-business/Obama-says-US-will-dig-itself-out-of-economic-hole/articleshow/6145635.cms#ixzz12il0FjY2

Hussein said he was confident Americans would “dig ourselves out of this hole”.
