Posted on 10/18/2010 8:50:43 AM PDT by Qbert
The Miller campaign has released the following statement in response to these stories from the Anchorage Daily News and the Alaska Dispatch:
While I've gotten used to the blog Alaska Dispatch's assault on me and my family, I never thought that it would lead to a physical assault. It's too bad that this blogger would take advantage of a "Town Hall" meeting to create a publicity stunt just two weeks before the election."
The Miller campaign was required by the facility to provide security at the event. Even though Joe had spent more than 40 minutes answering questions from those in attendance, the blogger chased Miller to the exit after the event concluded in an attempt to create and then record a 'confrontation' with the candidate. While Miller attempted to calmly exit the facility, the blogger physically assaulted another individual and made threatening gestures and movements towards the candidate. At that point the security personnel had to take action and intervened and detained the irrational blogger, whose anger overcame him. It is also important to note that the security personnel did not know that the individual they detained was a blogger who was engaged in the campaign. To them, the blogger appeared irrational, angry and potentially violent.
Unsurprisingly, the news media has failed to highlight what the Miller campaign calls a physical assault by the blogger on another individual. It seems that the Alaska Democrat Party is getting more and more desperate as it becomes increasingly clear that Joe Miller will likely become Alaska's next Senator. This story will likely help Joe Miller win more Palin supporters who had been previously considering writing in Lisa Murkowski.
Update: Red County has some video and a write-up of what really went down.
But as you can see, once again the Libs are distorting the truth of what happened.
WHAT? Why would any Palin supporter ever consider, even in the most fleeting of thoughts, writing in Lisa Murkowski?
Earlier thread with some useful links.
“found interesting was the set-up that took place between blogger Jesse Griffin - who when leaving was asking where Tony was. Notably - Griffin was with the individual who asked the question on why Miller was a Welfare Queen.”
Remember “Jesse Griffin”?!
He spread lies about the Palin’s and their lawyer served him with a summons at the school where he taught Kindergarten (and he is a pervert!).
His blog routinely displayed content such as describing then Governor and VP candidate Sarah Palin as wearing “f*ck me pumps”, or debating the acceptability of such concepts as referring to former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice as a “c*nt”.
In what appears to be a fairly consistent sexual theme, Griffin makes remarks such as, “if sex is not naughty then it is almost not worth doing”, claim that he is “promoting self-pleasure”, and instructing that, “Your p*nis will respond more readily if you take it out and put it through its paces more often”.
Palin’s attorney sent Griffin a letter asking him if he would rather be served with a summons at home or at work, giving Griffin a choice. However, the lefty Alaskan bloggers have seized on that to scream that Palin’s attorney is going to serve Griffin right in front of the kindergartners that he teaches.

—Yeah, I remember that disgusting individual. I think he was fired from his teaching job, IRRC.
Some really sick, perverted statements from him (noted in the comments):
Amanda Coyne’s and her husband Tony Hopfinger’s Dispatch wouldn’t exist without the largesse of the billionaire Rubinsteins
David Rubinstein, the founder of the Carlyle Group and spouse of Alice Rogoff, the publisher and sugar mommy who subsidizes the Alaska Dispatch.
Amanda Coyne is an Alaska freelancer, a blogger at Huffington Post, and an APU writing teacher. She has been published in Harper’s, Newsweek, the New York Times, and the Anchorage Press, where she was an editor until 2005.
Amanda Coyne: My husband (journalist Tony Hopfinger) and I have just written a book proposal on Palin, focusing on what forces gave rise to her in the first place. Two weeks before McCain tapped her, we launched the Alaska Dispatch website.
Journalist Amanda Coyne Credibility in Question
Amanda Coyne is on a crusade to portray Sarah Palin as stupid and unqualified.
Coyne’s politically-biased brand of journalism and unending drivel against Governor Palin mirrors the same level of credibility as OJ looking for the real killer. Coyne and her husband, Tony Hopfinger, are part of an unholy cabal that is trying to destroy Sarah Palin; tarnish her national image; and personally profit from it.
Amanda Coyne and Tony Hopfinger have assembled more than four dozen contributors to produce AlaskaDispatch.com, an online magazine that not only suffers from objective journalism but parallels the caustic, outrageous, dishonest and often disingenuous reporting of the Huffington Post. To note, Ms Coyne is a Huffington Post contributing blogger and Tony Hopfinger is an editor at the Anchorage Daily News.
Her agenda is to recruit college interns to help make money so she and her husband can profit by smearing Governor Palin. Her goal is to personally profit by capitalizing on manufactured claims and strident views toward Sarah Palin.
Update: Woman who failed bar exam four times apparently believes it is a “constitutional right” for journalists to physically assault people:
“This behavior is particularly disturbing, especially for someone who claims to be a constitutional conservative. Apparently Joe Miller has forgotten both the first and fourth amendments to the United States Constitution, said Murkowski in a statement. Joe Miller should immediately issue an apology to the editor of the Alaska Dispatch, a legitimate member of the Alaska press corps, who he had handcuffed by a private security firm. We call on him to immediately disavow the actions of his private security guards for violating the constitutional rights of a United States citizen by illegally detaining him. I find it alarming that Joe feels he needs to hire security forces to protect him from Alaskan voters and members of the press.

Tony Hopfinger is a freelance writer in Alaska. Seattle Times reporter
Meet Amanda Coyne. Coyne is a college professor who...wait for it... teaches journalism. She also runs a for profit website that is pretty much dedicated to causing Governor Palin grief.
Coyne, who claims to be Governor Palins first official biographer, also writes for the far left Huffington Post. Now the Post isnt all that important, so Coyne has an ace-in-the-hole, her husband, Tony Hopfinger, who works for the Anchorage Daily News.
Hopfinger, who also freelances, makes sure the ADN is full of less than flattering stories about the Governor. This writer, and others have had issues with the Anchorage paper for some time.
The ADN had the habit of allowing absolutely anything, no matter how disgusting, to be said about Palin in their online comments section, while deleting supportive comments. After some investigating, we found that many of the most hateful comments, from people claiming to be Alaskans, were actually bloggers, and a newspaper columnist or two from the lower 48.
Now helping out Amanda Coyne, is fellow HuffPo writer, Shannyn Moore. The malicious content of her writing speaks for itself. Moore has the worst case of Palin Derangement Syndrome imaginable.
unfortunately it looks like these unbalanced people have directed their PDS onto Joe Miller
“Shannyn Moore” is batshit crazy, as I recall from the Palin saga
I suppose the power of good will only prevail if light is shed on these people and their activities openly documented. Thank goodness for video equipment, everyone needs to be aware of their tactics and be prepared to step up to assist our candidates as they attempt to speak, and to document events as needed

Joe Miller’s Alaskan Militia
Joe Miller is fond of private security.
In the Spring of 2008, Joe Miller showed up wearing Eric Estrada circa 1984 mirrored sunglasses, with security guards in a staged coup d’état of the leadership of the Alaska Republican Party. He lost. Randy Ruedrich still stands supreme as the party Chair, and now supports the man who once tried to oust him.
Fast forward to July 4, 2010 — US Senate candidate Joe Miller’s supporters marched with assault rifles and campaign signs.
Part of being a 2nd Amendment Progressive in Alaska is having friends who are gun nuts. Several have recalled “Bill” at the Drop Zone boasting about his partners’ participation in rendition and black ops overseas. He would show off the 50 caliber sniper rifle worth at least $80,000. No one I know would ask what it was worth. It doesn’t take a sniper rifle to put a moose in your freezer.
She certainly is!
Shannyn Moore, claiming as 'fact' that Governor Palin resigned because she is 'under federal investigation' for embezzlement or other criminal wrongdoing.
Moore responded in a press conference that Palin is "a coward and a bully" and that she never claimed the rumors were fact but only pointed out they existed.
