O'Donnell Asks NRSC for More Money

With Delaware’s Democratic Senatorial candidate Chris Coons maintaining a commanding lead over his Republican counterpart Christine O’Donnell, the Tea Party favorite cannot help but turn to the National Republican Senatorial Committee for more help. What’s ironic, according to ABC News, however, is that O’Donnell’s message to the national GOP is “strangely mixed,” as she is both fighting them and asking for their help.

ABC News reports, “At the debate at the Wilmington, Delaware Rotary Club, O’Donnell ended her closing statement not with a message of party unity, but with one of defiance: ‘If you want a senator who has had to fight her own party and is still fighting her own party,’ she said, ‘please vote O’Donnell for U.S. Senate.’ ”

With Republican politicians in the minority in Delaware, holding just two of nine statewide offices, O’Donnell’s decision to draw a line between herself and the GOP during the debate was perhaps a smart one. However, post-debate polls show very little change in the numbers.

A University of Delaware Center for Political Communication poll conducted just prior to the debate showed Coons with a 21-point lead over O’Donnell, 54 to 33 percent. A follow-up poll done just after the end of the debate showed a mere 2 percent of likely voters changed their views.

However, the Rasmussen poll, conducted on Thursday, October 14, shows Coons with only an 11-point lead over O’Donnell, 51 to 40 percent.

Regardless, O’Donnell finds herself in an uncomfortable position just two weeks before the midterm elections, prompting her to turn to the very party from which she has attempted to separate herself.

During an interview with “This Week,” O’Donnell indicated that she needed help from the National Republican Senatorial Committee. She said, “We’re hoping that the National Republican Senatorial Committee will help us. But it’s two and a half weeks left and they’re not.”

Delaware Online adds, “O’Donnell pointed out that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is spending in Delaware on Coons’ behalf. The DSCC has been running ads for weeks highlighting O’Donnell’s past financial problems and allegations raised in a complaint by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, D.C.”

According to ABC News, however, the National Republican Senatorial Committee has already donated $42,000 to O’Donnell’s campaign, the legal maximum that can be donated.

Likewise, the chairman of the NRSC has indicated the Committee’s support of O’Donnell shortly after she defeated Representative Mike Castle in the Republican primary: “Let there be no mistake: The National Republican Senatorial Committee — and I personally as the committee’s chairman —strongly stand by all of our Republican nominees, including Christine O’Donnell in Delaware.”

Additionally, Chris Bond, spokesman for the NRSC, rebutted the notion that they have not been assisting O’Donnell’s campaign. “The NRSC has been in constant communications with the O’Donnell campaign, and our political director recently spent a day on the ground meeting with her staff, the focus of which was how to best spend the millions of dollars she has raised in recent weeks.”

One thing is for certain. Raising money has not been a problem for O’Donnell, who has raised more than $3.7 million since she won the primary. O’Donnell’s campaign has “enjoyed a 2-to-1 cash advantage over Chris Coons,” reports Bond.

However, O’Donnell recognizes a failure in getting out the message on Coons’ negative record, including his Marxist leanings.

While O’Donnell’s position appears precarious, according to Anthony Martin of The Examiner, “there is a reason to believe that the polls are wrong:”

“First, O’Donnell’s fundraising has outpaced that of Coons 2 to 1. This is in spite of the fact that both the state and national GOP establishment have refused to support O’Donnell. The Party elitists, who are dominated by RINOs (Republicans in Name Only) insisted, even to the point of being obnoxious, that Mike Castle should be their candidate. And even when he lost to O’Donnell, the Party bigwigs still refused to accept the will of the people.

Second, it is clear that internal, non-publicized polling done by Democratic operatives shows that Coons is in trouble. If this were not the case, then the Democratic Party elitists would not be bringing out the big guns to the state to stump for Coons … and to bash O’Donnell relentlessly. Obama and Biden both traveled to the state to campaign for Coons — a sure sign the candidate is not as far out in front as the public polls suggest.”

Campaigners for both candidates seem to recognize that Delaware’s Senate seat will likely be the determining factor in which party will have control of the United States Senate.

Coons notes, “I don’t think there’s a scenario where the Republicans take control of the United States Senate if I’m successful in this Senate seat. And I’ve been told that’s a critical strategic concern for folks who are looking at this race from outside.”

Despite this proclamation, Bond issued a news release stating, “We’re treating the Delaware Senate race the same as we would any other Senate race. We’re going to look in this last few weeks where our resources are best applied.”

Delawarians: Do you want a communist Coons who thinks like Obozo, or the nice clean, honest O'Donnell who will vote the way that will save the nation?

Memo to the DNC: you're toast as far as I'm concerned!

How long is the charade going to go on? We all know there are not two political parties... just the one big establishment party with some minor differences of how best to accomplish their one world agenda.

The path for Christine should be very much like the attack strategy of Sharron Angle on Reid. Obama is underwater in Delaware, a majority of Delaware voters support Repeal of Obamacare, a majority support Arizona. I’d be attacking Coons on taxes like she is with the “Tax Man” which is I believe one of the most effective ads she’s released yet. The personal ‘I’m you’ ads were good but she should be hammering Coons six ways from Sunday on his rubber-stamp of the the Obama agenda. Just hit him on the hot button things that people hate about Washington.

I’m not a big fan of NRSC, but if I were them, I’d probably give money to other candidates that don’t have $3.5m in their bank. Having said that, the NRSC as well as the DE Republican Party need to help her with organization of GOTV, and stuff like that.

I’ve donated to her campaign twice. Today, I got a letter from her asking my husband and I for $2,400. She might as well of asked for 24 million, lol. I’ll try to send another $50. I really want her to win, but I wonder if it’s likely to happen.

They sure as hell better get busy. The Republicrat Party is as larded with do-nothing lowlifes as is the DemocRAT Party.

Take a look at the Bobbsey twins from Maine, the ignoramus Luger from Indiana, Booby Hatch and a whole host of lifers who are planning to sink the boat and go back to the days of Michael.

OK, my biggest fear is about to realized. All the talk before the primary about Christine being money-hungry and unable to control her finances is apparently starting to come true.

Look, she just raised 4 million dollars and she's asking for more money from the RINOs at the NRSC. Delaware is not California, it is the size of a fricking county, and it's just 2 weeks before people vote. She needs to get out there and campaign like her life depends on it, BECAUSE IT DOES. If she loses, who is going to take her seriously ever again? She wouldn't even get hired as an analyst on Fox News.

If she's still bitching about money and still complaining about the NRSC, then she's clearly toast. Now's the time to pound Coons instead of wallowing in self-pity.

The NRSC could be paying for ad campaigns on behalf of O’Donnell.

That is where the big money is, and that is where they are not limited by the $ 42,000 donation limit.

And that is what they are NOT doing.

Instead, they want to help Christine spend the money she raised on her own.

The GOP could singlehandedly defeat Cap and Trade in the Lame Duck session by getting O’Donnell elected.

That they don’t understand this, or refuse to get behind her in this, shows just how wrong the national GOP is.

Delaware can be won, and when it is won, it will be without the help of the Republican Party. They are AWOL, like they have been since 1/20/09.

Sarah Palin, Christine O’Donnell, Sharron Angle, Joe Miller and other conservatives have breathed new life into this election.

If the GOP was doing their job, Obama and the Democrats would be the most hated people on the planet for what they have done.

Shame on the GOP -— especially the NRSC
which collected millions and would not HELP
O’Donnell.

Why?

Unlike everyone else in the Nov 2 election,
Christine O’Donnell will be seated immediately
if she wins.

The GOP elite want failure. They want delay.

If O’Donnell doesn’t win that would mean that Delawarians want to continue the destruction of America! We’ll go down the sewer while Europe rethinks it’s diversity nonsense and it’s fiscal policy where government kisses the arses of the unions!

The NRSC had better start backing winners like O’Donnell and Miller instead of losers like Castle and ‘M’.

O’Donnell is a fresh face who looks nothing like the monoliths who have been running the Republicrat party into the gutter. I know full well that she’d vote as conservative as Jake Flake (100%) and we might just turn this ship of state around before it sinks into an 60 foot wave.

Good job by the puppet marxist muslim in the White Hut if his intent was to wreck this nation beyond recognition.

The job of the NRSC is to assist their candidates. They need to get the hell behind O’Donnell rather then holding back.

That is the only purpose and function of the NRSC on God’s green earth, and they are not doing their job. Period. Good on Christine for calling them out!

I’d be pissed too if the party I was running behind actively campaigned against me as Rove has already done.

Reports suggest that the lady has more than $2.5 million in her war chest yet she asks for more from the national senate campaign group and from ordinary citizens. I’m sorry folks, but she seems to be a bit of a grifter to me. She knows she’s going to lose, so she building up a war chest for the future, either to engage in more quixotic campaigns or more likely as the foundation of elevating herself to the status of Tea Party / conservative momma grizzly media star, like Palin. As Palin as demonstrated, it’s a great gig, leading to lucrative book deals, reality TV shows and mega buck speaking engagements. Let’s face it folks, Palin has forged the model for a new career path with potentially large economic payoff. There’s nothing wrong with that, but please don’t be too let down when Ms. O’Donnell retires a wealthy woman with absolutely no political accomplishments to show for except a proven ability to separate good hearted people and their money.

You make some good points. I made a mistake in my first post. She asked for $2,400 for one person and $4,800 for a couple. I got a call from her campaign last week asking for money. My number is unlisted which makes me wonder.
