BERLIN (Reuters) A German entrepreneur is bypassing a European Union ban on light bulbs of more than 60 watts by marketing his own brand as mini heaters.
Siegfried Rotthaeuser and his brother-in-law have come up with a legal way of importing and distributing 75 and 100 watt light bulbs -- by producing them in China, importing them as "small heating devices" and selling them as "heatballs."

Its not just EU totalitarianism. We only have two more years to use incandescent bulbs in the good old USA unless some new sanity prevails in the district of criminals.
How many times did you have to flush your toilet today to get a big turd down?
I wonder if China could devote a factory to making Niagra Falls Miniatures, to answer the 1.3 gallon ridiculousness.
In my circle of friends, the daily constitutional is referred to a getting rid of a big Obama.
I went down to the store and bought a 15 year supply of 60 and 100 watt bulbs and put them in the attic. Not that much money, maybe $40.
Now I may be sent off for re-education if the fascists in DC do as Chavez did and send the army around to forcibly change the bulbs.

Ich bin ein Bulbheater
Excellent, hope we see the same thing here.
With a Republican House (and Senate??? ;)) I doubt a “heat ball” ban will pass. And those who prefer them can light their homes with heat balls.
I love it.
Mein Gott Sind Mein Gott Meine Landsleute Idioten.
Some big box home improvement salesman was on Fox the other day touting some new shower head that flows half the gallons per minute than other heads. Doesn’t do much good when your shower now needs to be twice as long to do the same thing as the older head.
Actually, a very good idea.
We have an old wardrobe in the basement, I keep a $60 bulb in the bottom so that the garments in the wardrobe don’t mildew.
I wish people would not do that.
Lightbulbs fail when the gas leaks out, and oxygen reaches the filament.
The gas leaks out whether the bulb is on or off.
So you have a 15-yr supply of dead light bulbs.
I have a non-conforming one. I’ll give it up when they rip it from my cold, dead, um, uh, well you get the picture...
Umm... That would be a problem of gas (oxygen) leaking in, no?
Traditional light bulbs have a vacuum inside, not a gas.
Brilliant!
Wow! That's one expensive bulb! What does it do?
I think they are filled with argon.
“Traditional light bulbs have a vacuum inside, not a gas.”
Really?
You believe that?
He thinks he is being clever, but the bureaucrats in Brussels will simply put him out of business before too long. I don’t think “The Law” means to much to the Eurocrats.
Well, when you break one it makes that implosion-pop sound.
