After uproar, Univision pulls ad discouraging Latinos from voting - Reid blaming ad on Angle
Yahoo News ^ | 102010 | Liz Goodwin

The Spanish-language station Univision has announced it will no longer air ads telling Latinos to stay home on Election Day.

"Don't vote this November," the English version of the ads says, while playing images of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and other Democrats. "This is the only way to send them a clear message: 'You can no longer take us for granted.' Don't vote."

A group called Latinos for Reform, led by Robert de Posada, a former Republican National Committee official, is behind the ads.

The decision to pull the ads came after a wave of outrage from Latino leaders.

"I think there's nothing more cynical than to encourage people to make themselves irrelevant," Arturo Vargas, director of the nonpartisan National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, told The Upshot. "I hope Univision makes the decision not to run the ads."

I agree, this stinks to high heaven. Any Republican who promoted this needs to have their brain reinserted as it has obviously fallen out somewhere along the way.

“I think there’s nothing more cynical than to encourage people to make themselves irrelevant”

Until they start putting “none of the above” on the ballot, staying home is how you cast your vote for that.

This sounds and smells just like something right out of Saul Alinski and his “Rules for Radicals” playbook.

I’ll bet a dollar to a donut hole that Reid is responsible for this one.

Yes there is, imbecil!
Massive voter fraud, dead and illegal voters, ballots marked before voting even begins.

The ad is almost certainly from the left. The MSM knows who is running an ad, they don’t run anonymous ads.

Ok, hate me, but as an ad man.... this is pure genius. Alinsky tactics turned on the left. Imagine the IQ of the person who would take this advice at face value. Would you WANT this person in an American voting booth?

We have a 1st Amendment right to political free speech. Even the speech that urges political apathy. We have all witnessed 40 years of unabridged leftist speech, from all directions and we conservatives are inured to it. My opinion: it’s about time the right engaged in the culture war... we have miles to catch up.

Don’t know if you had an opportunity to work with the so called GOP Latino coalitions for BC04, but these guys were spending all their time at La Raza and Maldef meetings. So as we all know, Bush was/is a pro-amnesty guy and picked his latino reps accordingly...my hunch is that Des Posada is a leftover from these reps.

Des Posada needs to come forward officially and make clear that Angle has nothing to do with this ad and that there is no coordination between campaigns.
