National Democrats have asked the Federal Election Commission to investigate whether Arizona Sen. John McCain violated campaign finance laws when his campaign paid to run ads for Republican House candidates in Arizona charges the McCain campaign said are baseless.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee filed a FEC complaint Tuesday against McCain and his campaign committee, Friends of John McCain, because of recent ads backing Ruth McClung, the GOP nominee in Arizonas 7th District, and Jesse Kelly, who is running in the 8th District. The complaint also asks the FEC to investigate whether McClung, Kelly and their respective campaign committees were in violation of campaign finance laws.
The TV commercials for Kelly and McClung include the standard disclaimer required by McCains namesake landmark campaign finance legislation, paid for by Friends of John McCain, and feature McCain himself announcing, Im John McCain and I approve this message.
Yet if McCain is spending more than $4,800 on each ad the legal limit for a political contribution its likely hes breaking the campaign finance law, Democrats say in the complaint.

He certainly is a canidate for being Pe Tarted.......
Would be such a joke and rightfully so for this altruistic Semi-Republican/Democrat. I would actually love for him to be brought up on charges here as he and his idiotic supporters, NC come to mind. All of his ideas were not only anti-Constitutional, but insane as well! He and all that voted for this stupid legislation should be turned out to pasture.
I'm sensing a wee bout of Schadenfreude coming on. :-)
I’m sure the DemonRAT Demogogues are guilty of violations of that unconstitutional quagmire, and much more besides, but it is good to see someone who betrayed us by promoting it getting bitten by it in the end.
I’m sure that senor jon is SHOCKED that his GOOD FRIENDS on the other side would treat HIM this way.
It must be the TEA PARTY after him, surely the dems LOVE HIM, after all, he helped get obama elected.
“But,but, we have nothing to fear from an Obama Presidency!”
McLoser’s friends turn on him on a dime, and the irony is, foreign money from unidentified sources flowed into Obama’s campaigns like the Mississippi after a spring thunderstorm.
That right there’s funny, I don’t care who you are.
John, John, John ... don't you know that each time you reach across the aisle, you have to count the fingers on the hand that comes back? Do you get it yet?
I still blame McCain for obamas victory in 2008 he could have told everyone Obama was a socialist but no he thought Obama was a nice man. McCain sucks and I hope his daughter had something to do with the ads as well, a 2 for 1 throw em in the slammer is fine by me
Skip the investigation - just oust him.
The problem with this is, they aren’t after Juan. The commie ‘RATS have drawn a bead on Kelly and McClung. The bass turds are desperate and scared that Giffords, Mitchell and Raul the La Raza Guy are about to be thrown out on their collective arses. My question is, when is the GOP going to start making these kinds of allegations against the commie ‘RAT candidates? I’m not going to hold my breath. GOPers need to cowboy up and get with the program or they’re going to get killed in two weeks. The ‘RATS are already giving out FREE ice cream to anyone who will vote for them and it’s working.
hahaha that cracked me up
Let's count how many sympathetic comments McCain gets here, let me start off: Oh those Democrats are just so mean
John McCain is trying to help out Ruth McClung, a great candidate. Is the hatred of JM so strong here that you can’t give him credit for his efforts?
See what happens when you “cross the aisle”, Senator? You reach out with an olive branch and draw back a bloody stump!
I feel no sympathy for this dude, at all.
I'll give him credit when two wrongs make a right, newbie.
Sure! Right after we finish with Pimp-daddy Rangel and Nutcase Waters.
Personally, I’d love for McManiac to get busted.
Well, will I agree with you, I actually blame McCain for many other things! He should have been ousted years ago.
Never confuse effort with results, because you can be sure the rest of us won’t.
Well, I don’t give him any credit Newbie! He has been the anti-Republican for years and I doubt that his ideas have changed!
His ideas haven't changed.
McCain is a two-faced political chameleon, just like Romney.
GUILTY! Run the bum outta town.
Send your porcine, brain-dead daughter out to some more Sunday talk shows to save your hide...
I loved it when John McCain beat that phony Hayworth, didn’t you? Hayworth was Mr. Pork Barrell himself.
Heh, I’m glad you took my “Newbie statement” well...and you should. New people are not necessarily left or right, good or bad...have to give them a chance and grade them on their comments.
As to McCain, he needs to go - unfortunately, he is probably in his last years and won’t run again. I just hope that he does not do his Liberal part in destroying what is coming. Either he gets with the Tea Party, or he dies by the Tea Party...his choice.
I don't know if hatred is the right word.
Perhaps abhorrence, abomination, acrimony, anathema, animosity, animus, antagonism, antipathy, aversion, contempt, detestation, disapproval, disgust, displeasure, distaste, enmity, execration, grievance, gripe, hostility, invidiousness, loathing, malevolence, malignity, odium, repugnance, repulsion, revulsion, or venom might be better.
Disappointing, so far only one of the ‘McCain is a hero’ patrol found this thread.
Hayworth is not phony.
His Ideas have changed, until November 3.
Yeah, and only a newbie retread, to boot!
No, his idea have never changed... He has campaigned on different ideas but that was just another farce. He is and always will be a Liberal Republican with a cause - not anything that is good for his constituents though... He is the ultimate snake of a politician.
May I be the first to point out you're being even more dumb than normal........
Nobody, absolutely nobody detests John McCain more than me, but if he's helping Ruth and Jesse, I don't see any reason to blast him.
The way you feel about John McCain, is the way I feel about George W. Bush.
Looks like a frivlous attack by the DCCC. Not liking McCain is one thing, siding with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and cheering on their socialist agenda is another. The fact you'd also side with the DCCC against these very conservative House candidates is quite telling as to your true agenda. You are a perpetual complainer - nothing positive to offer - you just like to whine and complain with no real purpose.
I'm no McCain fan either, but when he supports someone good I'm all for it.
Yes, that's exactly correct. If you read further into the article, the part that rabscuttle failed to highlight, you find that this is completely legal as an independent expenditure, and McCain's campaign filed the appopriate paperwork for the same. Nothing improper was done here, and it is a Democrat lie to try to generate phony negative publicity for Ruth McClung and Jesse Kelly - a lie that rabscuttle all to happily is jumping for joy over and spreading and even doesn't mind tarnishing the names of two strong conservatives like Ruth McClung and Jesse Kelly. There can be no further argument with these attacks on Kelly and McClung and siding with the Democrat Campaign Committee's nonsensical smears that rabscuttle is a friend of the conservative agenda.
Your article is a piece of crap and demonstrates just how nuts you can be.
Tarring two good conservative candidates is not a good thing to do on FR.
I live in Arizona.
