WASHINGTON President Obama announced on Wednesday that he would visit Pakistan next year for the first time since taking office as his administration tries to bolster rocky relations with perhaps its most important partner in the war against Al Qaeda and its allies.
Mr. Obama joined a meeting between his top advisers and visiting Pakistani officials for 45 minutes to discuss mutual issues and assuage concern about his trip to India in November. The president explained that he would not be stopping in Pakistan during his trip to Asia next month, and committed to visiting Pakistan in 2011, the White House said in a statement.
The presidents meeting came as part of a multiday strategic dialogue between senior American and Pakistani officials, including the military chief, Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, and the foreign minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi. Relations between the countries have been strained lately after a helicopter strike on a border post killed several Pakistani soldiers and Islamabad responded by temporarily closing a critical supply line to Afghanistan.

The only question I have about this is, will he stay?
Maybe he can find a home with the Taliban and marry a few 9 year olds.
You mean “Pock-ee-stun”.
Oh, goodie. Is he going to pronounce it ‘Pock-eeee-ston’ some more in his pretentious manner?
does he have to come back.....really, mr prez....you can stay
“The only question I have about this is, will he stay?”
Darn, beat me to it.
Think we can move the US while he’s gone?
He’d be too stupid to find it if the AF-1 pilots play along.
And we all know what those officers think of the Dung Beetle in Chief.
Will they give him a hero’s welcome?
“bolster rocky relations with perhaps its most important partner in the war against Al Qaeda and its allies. “
What a bunch of crappola. The , ISI as two faced as they are , have found a beautiful way to profit ( both them and their partners in the taliban) at the expense of the American taxpayer.
Hopefully, AF 1 will return with no passengers!
Good, hope they keep him forever.
Why wait? There’s no better time for him to go and find a new house to live in.
Pakistan, thanks to the wondrous influence of Islam, a privileged ruling elite, and rampant corruption, is rapidly becoming a real toilet of a country. I can’t think of a more fitting place for Obama to be.
“President Will Travel To Pakistan Next Year”
Is he coming back??? Hope not.
I want him disgraced, drummed out of office and to be the butt of puns for the next 40 years replacing Carter as our greatest national joke. No scum-bag Jihadi better take a shot at my president, even if I don't much care for him.
nooooooo....it’s Pockey-staaan :D
funniest thing i’ve read all day.......
I thought he was going on 3rd November. Certainly, that’s what’s being reported in one of our major newspapers (Australia).
The NYT title should honestly read, “The President Will Return To Pakistan Next Year”. I guarantee you the NYT will not mention that Obama traveled to Pakistan when it was on a State Department No Travel list.
