Much back and forth has gone on this week over whether Republicans are committed to the repeal of the government takeover of health care known as Obamacare.
The so-called mainstream media has gotten into the act in an effort to suppress Republican voter turnout. Having a great deal invested in the Obama façade they created, the media is once again in full protect mode trying to help Democrats avoid an out-and-out slaughter on Nov. 2.
The only way to suppress GOP turnout is if disheartened voters believe their efforts to expel Democrats won’t make a difference in policy. And the “non-partisan” media is doing everything it can to give that impression.
One example came late yesterday when the Associated Press (AP) wire service reported that Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was willing to work with the White House to compromise on the repeal of Obamacare.
Having reported earlier in the day a McConnell statement to radio talk show host Laura Ingraham on October 7 that McConnell was committed to a full repeal of the bill, we asked for a clarification from the Republican Leader’s office.
Sen. McConnell responded.
“While we were unable to block the Democrats from passing the health spending bill—the single worst piece of legislation that’s passed since I’ve been in the Senate—the Republican leadership in the House and Senate is committed to its repeal. While Democrats will filibuster our efforts, and if we’re successful the President will veto, I believe we should give them that opportunity. We should vote, again, for repeal,” McConnell told HUMAN EVENTS. “Americans have spoken out, loud and clear, and we heard them. Repeal is part of the Pledge to America, and the Republican leadership is united in that effort.”

McConnel is not telling the complete truth, I believe it takes two votes from the minority to get a bill out of committee for a floor vote, and republicans could have required to have the complete bill read into the record and McConnel said no!
I do not trust McConnel.

Remember, there will be a core of people like McCain and Graham. Even if they promised me, written in blood, I know what they would do anyway.
This is what everyone needs to keep in mind: even though it is gratifying to see liberals on the defensive, there will be a philosophical tie in the Congress, even if the best hoped-for outcome becomes true. In a situation where radical cost-cutting must be adopted, there will not be enough courage or will to do it. The economic free-fall will not be arrested, only tweaked. Anyone expecting meaningful cuts like the Brits are doing is not being realistic.
It’s sad. Sad for the country. But the American people STILL haven’t gotten the message yet. And the work of the next Congress will reflect it, I’d bet my last dollar on it.
Yes, and we must make sure our voices continue to be heard. They did stick together to prevent it from going through, it’s a start.
I blame the passage on that one hold out, Sustak (I think that’s him). His vote put them over, after his long winded lying “holdout”.

and write individual bills:
with NO RIDERS ALLOWED,
that address individual egregious aspects of 0bamacare,
that are easy to understand [by us “rubes”],
and that are only one page.
Pass these through both houses and dare 0bama to veto.

Yep, that is precisely what I expect to happen. No Conservative should trust Mitch McConnell or John Boehner any farther than they can throw them. Actions speak louder than words. These two fretted and moaned and wringed their hands when they claimed that the Dims were locking them out of meetings on Obamacare they were legally obliged to attend. Where was the camera crew to film the door being shut in their faces? Why were they not screaming from the rooftops? Why did they not force a reading of the entire bill into the Congressional record on the House and Senate floors prior to the vote as ANY member of Congress can do? I think we all know the answer to these questions.....
Me neither. Boehner either. Not even a little bit.
Then you can just sit there and cry in your beer and do nothing.

Nope. However, just like the MSM tries to dampen our enthusiasm with lies, many a troll here on FR will be coming out of the woodwork to do the same.
Whose crying in any beer? I’ll do my part. At the same time, more effort has to be made to nail down untrustworthy old bulls so that, at least, they don’t vote for budgetary INCREASES. Because, by G-d, that’s what they’ve done in the past after two other supposedly conservative sea changes. Burned twice already, my expectations have been tempered.

It will take more than 1 election to make such a drastic change. We got a late start (who’s fault is that?), from awakening from our lumber this election.
2012 and beyond is a whole different ballgame.

Just so that there is no confusion: my attitude is exactly the same as Jim DeMint’s. I don’t want a hollow, meaningless victory. The country can’t wait for a series of partial election victories to straighten this mess out.
The Republicans WILL have the power to cut the budget by anything they choose to do. The Brits are making 19% one. 19%!!!!!!
OTOH, I haven’t seen more than a handful of Republicans promising more than a few cutbacks, let alone the elimination of huge agencies and the like. Because that’s what it is going to take. The yearly deficit is 10% of the entire GDP and about 40% of the entire federal budget.
And yet some conservatives are happy that they got McConnell - kicking and screaming - to finally agree to only ATTEMPT to repeal. Sheeeeeeesh.

Repeal will not be possible until after 2012. We will not have the votes this election cylce unless we peel off a good number of democrats who voted for it - something I’d consider highly unlikely.
