Rep. Barney Frank (D.-Mass.) is so freaked out over his boyfriend’s behavior and his own election troubles that he’s attempting to be nice to people, according to a columnist at the very liberal Boston Globe.
When Frank’s boyfriend Jim Ready was caught on tape heckling Frank’s Republican challenger Sean Bielat, Globe columnist Brian McGrory reports he phoned the liberal icon to ask if he condoned Ready’s behavior. (h/t Ace of Spades)

When I called Frank yesterday to ask if he condones his partner goading and mocking an opponent, he told me that “Jimmy’’ is a talented amateur photographer putting together a photo essay of the campaign.
When I asked if Frank planned to apologize for Ready’s behavior, Frank said: “Jim should have broken it off and not responded. But Bielat shouldn’t have initiated the conversation. I don’t see what was inappropriate about taking his picture.’’
I’ll mark that down as a no.
A few moments later, my phone rang again. It was Frank, adding, “Jim’s new to political campaigning. He takes it more personally than someone who’s used to it.”
After we hung up, Frank called again, saying, “You know, he calls me dude. I didn’t realize that was troubling people. He calls all sorts of people dude.”

If he devotes one cell of his brain to being nice, that leaves the remaining cell to think with.

I first heard this on the radio the other day and nearly puked.
It’s beyond embarrassing. As bad as the Kennedys are, at least they didn’t have a queer sloth “boyfriend” doing garbage like this.
If the felching freak gets re-elected, it’s akin to booking passage on the Titanic, when you know full well what the end result is: You get what you deserve.

The press also tries to cover for Barney by calling Ready his “longtime” partner. Five years. That’s it. First it was Hot Bottom, then Herb Moses, now Dude. Let’s see if Barney gets a “Dear Dude” letter when he loses.
Barney’s advisors must be telling him at this point he has to be nice or otherwise he’ll lose like “Marsha” Coakley (her
nickname came due to Patrick Kennedy supporting her yet NOT KNOWING HER FIRST NAME!). Her icy demeanor and that shot of
her minion thug forcing a reporter to the ground, as she
stood by and did nothing, was a factor in her losing. At a
regular Boston political breakfast, as she came out,
they joked about it by playing Foreigner’s “Cold as Ice”

Just maybe the voters in Massachusetts will do what would have been unthinkable in 2008 and retire Barney Frank in 2010.

five years is a very long time in queer-years. So am I to take gay marriage seriously when an astute, well-educated gay man like Barney Frank has a dope-smoking partner who has the emotional maturity of a junior high school student?
The correct spelling of Barney’s boyfriend’s name is “Jim, Ready?”
