Indianapolis—

SNIPPET: “He was wearing a green John Deere baseball cap, a black or dark colored leather coat with possibly a black hoodie underneath and blue jeans.
He is approximately 5’4” and 115lbs.

Police are trying to follow up on a couple possible sightings of the teen but they say his cell phone is off now, so they cant use that to track his location.

Azizi is an exchange student from Afghanistan who has been living with a host family in Ohio. He’s not a member of the FFA but he was here with a group who is.”

SNIPPET: “Investigators are trying to follow up on a couple possible sightings including a Hardees restaurant at East Washington Street and Southeastern Avenue, where somebody said he may have been with somebody else.”

SNIPPET: “Metro police say Azizi is highly intelligent. There is no Amber Alert due to the fact that police aren’t sure if Azizi is in any kind of danger.”

The police gave copies of Azizi’s Chemistry notebook pages to the Indiana Intelligence Fusion Center. Some of his notes were written in English, and some were written in Arabic.

Thanks for that update. From your link:

"IMPD gave copies of pages from the boy's chemistry notebook to the Indiana Intelligence Fusion Center at about 11 a.m. Friday, according to a police report. The center collects and analyzes information on possible criminal and terrorist activity."

To which I say: Oh boy. (Shaking my head here).

“Search continues for missing exchange student”

Updated: Oct 25, 2010 2:39 PM

SNIPPET: “Indianapolis - U.S. State Department officials say a 15-year-old Afghani exchange student is the latest of more than 50 exchange students now missing and unaccounted for in this country.”

SNIPPET: “This year, there are 963 student participants.”

SNIPPET: “”Approximately 51 Afghan students out of a total of 254, which includes the 24 currently in the United States this academic year, have left the program early and, to the bureau’s knowledge, have not returned home to Afghanistan,” Cowart told Eyewitness News.”

According to the State Department, homesick students have 24-hour access to program workers that can help them leave if they choose to go home. That’s why officials believe Karim’s disappearance was planned.

SNIPPET: “Metro police did confiscate a chemistry notebook and turned it over to the Indiana Homeland Security Fusion Center for analysis. A state police spokesman says investigators couldn’t read the foreign handwriting and needed an interpreter. The results, they say, turned up nothing of consequence.”
