Libby Newman is a small business owner who stays informed on current events and politics. She's the kind of citizen that keeps the US economic engine running. She's not high visibility like Judge Holbrook, but she's an equally fine person who courageously stuck her neck out to write this letter to the editor. After all, one never knows who might be offended by such a letter and take their business elsewhere.
Kudos to both for their letters in the Galveston Daily News. Tell all the Texas voters you can.
Bill who? Never heard of him.
a Texas registered voter
Bill White is a disaster waiting to happen and any Texan who votes for him is an IDIOT!
Screw’em...I already voted against him and the rest of the Texas ‘rats running for whatever.
The worst part I saw was in the lowered section of Beltway 8, the cars were in grid lock. The level of carbon monoxide was so bad the people were throwing up on the side of the road.
Typical Lib, thinks he knows better then everyone else and manages to make the situation worse.
Dear double post police; Sorry.
Others have. Please help get this message out to every Texas voter you can. Remind them that his lousy judgment cost lives.
Help Texas voters to know about the lives lost as a result of his bad judgment. You could influence some votes. Thanks.
Good for you. Now please help get the word out to Texas voters. Thanks for your activism.
Horrors of Rita reflect on Bill White
As Election Day approaches, I would like to remind people of what happened in the Hurricane Rita evacuation and why.
The evacuation was scheduled in stages, with those in the most danger leaving first (Galveston). As each area cleared the coast, the next area farther inland was to leave.
All was going as planned until then-mayor of Houston Bill White had a press conference calling for the evacuation of Houston. One reporter spoke up and said, But Mayor, the coastal communities have not finished evacuating.
Bill Whites reply was: Those people are not my responsibility. My responsibility is to the residents of Houston, and I fear that they are in harms way and should leave.
As a result, the people leaving the coast ran into a brick wall of cars leaving Houston. People ran out of gas. Some were getting sick with no way for an ambulance to reach them. People and pets died. It was hell on earth.
So please, before you vote for Bill White, remember Rita and the horror that ensued.
Do you really want to elect a man who has so little regard for human life?
Texas cant afford White as governor
But the worst action by White as mayor was going on TV and radio and telling all Houstonians to evacuate for Hurricane Rita. That blocked all highways for Galveston, Brazoria and Fort Bend residents and caused the largest traffic jam in the history of Texas. And it caused the death of two of my close friends. That is not leadership, and we cant afford someone like that as governor.
Just in case you haven’t seen this.
Just in case you haven’t seen this.
sorry about the double ping to this. My computer is acting up again.
Thanks for the ping - I had seen this but am glad to see it again. I gag each time I see his ugly mug on the tv blasting Perry and claiming to be the new wonderkid to save Texas!
