CA: Escondido mother qualifies to run for governor

Cassandra Lieurance runs a home-based business using eBay. But, she’s no fan of Meg Whitman , a former CEO of eBay and Republican candidate for governor. Frustrated with Whitman and Democratic rival Jerry Brown, Lieurance decided to run herself.

On Friday, the Escondido mother was certified by the secretary of state as an official write-in candidate for governor of California. She is one of eight hoping voters pencil in their name next to the governor’s spot.

“It seems to me like no regular people run for anything. I am tired of having poor choices,” said Lieurance, who is making her first run at elected office.

Today, the SOS finally posted the list of official write-in candidates for ALL offices.

I know many have discussed Karen England (Lt. Gov) and Dianne Lenning (Super. of Pub. Instr.) — both are on the list.

Just because someone has a maid does not make them out of touch and just because one has no maid does not make them in touch either. Special interest money or your own money is what gets advertising dollars which one needs to get face time IMO. I did not notice if the article mentioned if she was a democrat or republican and also if she took a swip at Jerry Brown as she did with Whitman

Hey, don’t growl.

Dianne Lenning is an excellent choice for Superintendant of Public Instruction
as is Karen England for Lt. Governor.

If not them, you can choose between 2 democrats in the first case,
or the equivalent of two democrats in the second case.

Just about anybody with an R next to their name or who names themselves conservatives is better than the two loser choices we have in the California Governor’s race this year.

I posted the article because the ‘official list’ was just published today.

Write-ins have been discussed by many of us for several offices, not for governor.

I certainly did not mean to tout this gal for office.
Anyone who thinks there is such a thing as “socially liberal and fiscal conservative” needs more education.

Ah... the Gary Coleman vote?
Sheessh... that was a cast of characters we had in 2003.
Remember when they all went on with Jay Leno?

Only in California.

Seems like to me she would siphon her 3 votes away from Brown

My question is this. I just mailed my ballot in yesterday. If I had written in Engle for Lt. Governor, would it have been valid and counted?

Yep -- as long as you wrote exactly "Karen England."
