NPR's Firing of Juan Williams Was Poorly Handled
NPR.org ^ | 10/21/2010 | ALICIA SHEPARD

Juan Williams once again got himself into trouble with NPR for comments he made at his other job, at Fox News. And NPR's reaction has unleashed an unprecedented firestorm of criticism directed not at Williams – but at NPR.

(snip)

Thursday was a day like none I’ve experienced since coming to NPR in October 2007. Office phone lines rang non-stop like an alarm bell with no off button. We’ve received more than 8,000 emails, a record with nothing a close second.

(snip)

At noon, the deluge of email crashed NPR’s “Contact Us” form on the web site.

FOX News was really the intended target in this fiasco. Unfortunately, NPR suffered the greatest amount of collateral damage. Kind of like when Hanoi Boi John Kerry shot himself in the @$$ with an M-79 grenade launcher while serving in Vietnam.

I’m not sure if he actually served there but he did “Report for Doody” for 2 or 3 months.

There is not a doubt in my mind that the inspiration for Schiller’s righteous indignation was the childish walk-off-the-set theatrics by Whoopie Goldberg and Joyce Behar on ‘The View’ last week, in reaction to a comment about Muslims made by Bill O’Reilly.

I would bet anything that Schiller watched that show, tilted her head, and thought, “Gee, what a really cool and morally upright thing to do! Take that, O’Reilly!” She wanted to do something just like that so she could be cool, too, and earn some smiles and pats on the back from the liberal cocktail crowd she cavorts with.

So she “walked off the set” by firing Williams for the insensitive, O’Reilly-like comments about Muslims which... whaddaya know!... Williams made to that very same Bill O’Reilly on the hated Fox News channel! It was a perfect storm for Schiller, who reportedly had been looking for an excuse - - any excuse - - to dump Williams precisely because of his employment with Fox News.

She had it all figured out. ...Only it didn’t quite work out the way she expected.

Schiller should be fired ASAP. What a freaking idiot.

NPR was endowed by the far left and now find themselves the ones who clearly need psychiatric assistance.

No more money for NPR or PBS.

As for Sesame Street, let them share their untold millions with their brethren.

I didn't even think of that. I bet you're right. Good call.

Libs are always trying to one-up each other as 'defenders of slights against the downtrodden victims of the patriarchal blah blah blah' or whatever. I'll show those View chicks, I won't just walk off a set, I'll FIRE someone who is intolerant of terrorist---uh, Muslims!"

If Fox was the target, I’ve never seen or heard of a worse cluster-fxxk. Fox and Juan came out smelling like roses while NPR lost a great deal of respect and ended up lng like the worst petty bumblers ever.

I hope Juan sues them down to their panties and shoelaces.

NPR CEO and Ombudsman ---> resign or be fired... period.

This incident clearly defines just how liberals undermine and ostracize a person with whom they disagree.

As a black man who is conservative I know very well how liberals treat a person who thinks differently than they do. They are some of the most hate-filled people on the planet and at times seem to climb over each other to see who can be the most vile.

They are truly hateful individuals.

I think ‘hateful’ is the wrong term. Afraid...would be the better term. These are basically 2-star executives running something they have no concept over...they start to fear things, and then they do dopey things.

The ombudsman used some stupid comparison today to make folks feel better. The quote was.... “I can only imagine how Williams, who has chronicled and championed the Civil Rights movement, would have reacted if another prominent journalist had said: ‘But when I get on a plane, I got to tell you, if I see an African American male in a Dashiki with a big Afro, I get worried. I get nervous.”

The only problem with this...is that there hasn’t been a single African-American in a Dashiki with a Afro to kill any Americans over the past three decades. We aren’t even talking about mass killings.

As for the CEO....her smirk and this reference to some mental health doctor made her look like some BP oil executive. NPR is in serious trouble and I suspect a major flip on management will occur by Xmas.

“Thursday was a day like none I’ve experienced since coming to NPR in October 2007”.

...hopefully, when a new congress takes over, a pink slip will be handed to you after defunding! That will probably become your new “day like none”!

This is just an MSM distraction from the economy. Playing right in to Obamas hand.
