Issa: 'Not a chance' of Obama impeachment under GOP House (RINOs betraying us already?)

If Republicans take control of the House, there is "not a chance at this point" that they will try to impeach President Obama, a top Republican lawmaker said this week.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), who would helm the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee if the GOP wins on Election Day, said that his party will not try to bring impeachment charges simply because it disagrees with the president.

"Not a chance at this point. I don’t see it happening," Issa said when asked if there is a chance of impeachment on Bloomberg's "Political Capital," which airs over the weekend.

I am all for staying on point with the Constitution.

BUT

We should not be going around and saying things like impeachment is not on the table either.

Both statements on both sides of the argument are irresponsible.

What was Issa’s point in making such a statement? To disgruntle and perhaps disenfranchise the base from bothering to vote?

Issa demonstrated on Rush this past week he doesn’t understand what has happened to the base. Statements like Issa’s are only counter productive and should be held close to the chest, not thrown out on the table days before an election.

I agree. Issa needs to concentrate on passing laws that will pass constittuional muster limiting Zero (and future Presidents) from playing politics with agencies and the military.

And the practice of recess appointments must be stopped.

also, if the President’s budget is so high that he can have limitless number of Tsars. The budget is to high.

And need I say that The congress has 2 years to make real inroads into reigning in the EPA,EDU,NEA,Interior and all their progeny. And Defunding is the perfect way to stop the madness.
REMEMBER IT IS CONGRESS THAT SPENDS THE MONEY.
THAT IS WHAT WE MUST CONCENTRATE ON.

Impeaching Zero will only divert the attention from the goal, and lead to calls from the left of Repubs “wasting” money on Impeachment.

It seems we have 2 years till he's out. We need to focus on overturning Obama care and send him legislation to veto that benefits the American people. I don't want this Congress spending all it's time on a witch hunt.

Expose the truth in late 2012. I want to run against Obama, not Hillary or Bahy.

Like your analysis. Let me add:

Bernake said something about “quantitative easing”. Read Inflation. More hate and discontent for the big O.

The economy may ease, but only due to the perception of gridlock. Gridlock is a form of stability. However...

Everything the Dems have done up until now will have a negative impact on the economy or being extremely optimistic will have no impact. Thus 8-13% unemployment. More resentment for the big O.

Every time the big O comes out and blames everything and everybody else for problems, mostly republicans, he will demonstrate his lack of leadership-his lack of a substancial plan to ease the economy. More contempt for the big O.

When the repubs have the spine to do their constitutional duty of proper oversight, we should see investigations of the DOJ, financial marketeers, GM, FanMae & FredMac and whatever voter fraud. More trouble for the O.

I hope he does not resign, else Biden will be in charge. (I cannot believe I am writing this) But that would be better for the Dems, I think.

And, Iran gets THE bomb.

Obama is not going to resign

He thinks himself a potentate

Potentates do not resign

“Keep your head down. Keep your mouth shut.”

That’s a good part of what got us into this predicament. It’s time to make some real NOISE! We absolutely must extend the CONSERVATIVE brand...not the Democrap brand...not the Republicrat brand...the CONSERVATIVE brand. And we can’t extend that brand by sitting down and shutting up.

We’ll have to take back the country. It doesn’t appear the leftists are tired of their own stupidity, yet.

We must make it clear to the RINOs that impeachment is ON THE AGENDA, not just on the table.

Where in the pledge was the call for impeachment?

I must have missed it.

They should start with the requirement that every bill have a citation of constitutional authority. Then go through and defund any agency that doesn't have constitutional authority.

After that, they can check BO's papers.

I agree with Congressman Issa on this. Even if we had a high crime or misdemeanor to charge 0bama with, it would be a waste of time to impeach him. Thats because:

1. The votes to impeach 0bama simply aren’t there in the Senate.

2. 0bama is up for re-election in 2012. Let the voters take him out.

3. If we went through the impeachment process it might take a year and a half to get him out of office. At that point Biden would take over and he wouldn’t be able to get rid of all of the czars or any of the cabinet members. So what would be accomplished by impeachment.

4. It would be politically divisive...and would probably make 0bama and the Dems more popular. Just as 0bama and the Dems are unpopular because they focused on healthcare too much and the economy to little over the last 2 years, Republicans would be unpopular because they will be seen as focussing on impeachment too much and the economy too little.

5. And, lastly, we don’t have a high crime or misdemeanor to charge him with. Being a Marxist is not a high crime or a misdemeanor...its a political preference which would best be resolved by the voters.

In summary, impeachment contains a very high risk for Republicans with every little reward.

He told Rush that they were going to investigate... notice the “not at this point” statement. I do not like Issa... I think that he is a rino... but they cannot impeach without evidence and they have to investigate things to gather evidence.

We are not a movement of Kangaroo Courts. Now if they have evidence and refuse... Call me... I will ride to DC with you, carrying Tar and Feathers!

Impeachment in the House is a waste of time unless you can get a conviction in the Senate. Bill Clinton’s impeachment proved that.

Impeachment would only make a martyr out of him. To many on the left, especially the blacks, would see it as “getting the black man”. It would reinforce the mantra that it was his color all along.

The Republicans have enough information on him now to put behind the scenes pressure on him and if only one state demands a long form BC enough pressure would be applied that he would just slither away. That could be used to show that he just wasn’t up to the job and didn’t have what it takes to lead.

Issa is doing the right thing. Keep your head down. Keep your mouth shut. Win this battle, then go fight the war.

Absolutely!

That was the first thought I had upon reading this article.

Issa has a semi-tractor trailer load of subpoenas waiting for the Dem's to lose the committee chairs and they know it.

It would be stupid to give the Dem's ammunition with which to fire up the faithful before the election.

There are NOT ENOUGH VOTES in the Senate to get a two thirds majority for conviction....67 votes. It was tried with Clinton. It wont work. Forgetdaboutit.

Give me a break. Issa and the GOP would be insane right before the midterms to even hint that with the GOP in the majority in the House, there would be the possibility of an impeachment trial. It would be playing right into the Dems hands and alienate many voters.

I don’t know how much Soros paid for this article, but he got his money’s worth. Exactly what can Issa say. If he says he will investigate Obummer. He has given it a great rallying cry and a coherent message to turn out the vote. If he says no comment, they run with that. Issa’s only alternative is to take the whole thing off the table for now and leave out the “for now”.
Crap, do we really believe that Issa wants to be responsible for the October Surprize! Let’s not talk like we have won. Let’s get out there and win! [FUBO and the soros you rode in on.]

“Unless you can get 67 senators to vote for a conviction, there’s no point in impeachment.”

If overwhelming and clear evidence is presented and a majority of American people agree that obuma should be impeached, then those senators voting against conviction on impeachment charges will be politcally dead.

Threaten? Yes. Cause to lose. not necessarily.

Name a single Congressman in Congress today who is more consistently conservative or more dedicated to investigating the Obama administration for criminal activities than Darrell Issa.

Voting a third party in my district would be the equivalent of voting for Nancy Pelosi.

I think you should take back your prior comment. I think it was ignorant. Maybe not stupid, but clearly ignorant.
