Another Transparent Attempt by Anonymous 'Republican Insiders' to Discredit Governor Palin
C4P ^ | October 23, 2010 | Doug Brady

Posted on 10/23/2010 8:56:44 AM PDT by DB9

In the past week, two hit pieces have been written against Governor Palin. The first was the piece by Jonathan Martin that was been thoroughly debunked as "flat out lies" by practically every source he identified by name. This was followed yesterday by a second hit piece in the New York Daily News that, hilariously, claimed that it will be Governor Palin's fault if the GOP doesn't take back the Senate. Whitney discussed this silliness in a post last night. To Whitney's analysis I would add that the GOP establishment has no idea how thin the ice is upon which they stand. They should be on their knees thanking their lucky stars that Governor Palin encouraged Tea Party candidates to remain in the GOP and not pursue the third party route. If Tea Party candidates had gone rogue and left the GOP, there would be no chance of even a House majority this November, much less a Senate majority.

Back to the two hit pieces. Other than the sources Jonathan Martin named (who have since unequivocally called him a liar as noted above), both pieces relied exclusively on infamous anonymous Republican "insiders", "consultants", "party elders", etc. This brings up an interesting question. These so-called Republican geniuses are almost certainly aware of how critical this mid-term election is. Why then would they "leak" false stories designed to smear Governor Palin to left-wing "journalists" who obviously have an agenda to hurt the Republican Party? Why at this particular time? How does this help the Republicans in the upcoming election? The short answer is it doesn't.

I’d guess Lisa Murkowski is involved.

Where has holding a seat or getting the right committee chairmanship ever gets us anywhere in the recent past? Only but liberal -lite and compromising!

Everybody in D.C is not going to be straight down conservatives as some see it, but the fiscal and no compromising conservatives don’t hold power in the Congress, the 2001- 2006 people still do and if the GOP is to survive, GOP lady we don’t need a Castle to bring the same ol’ status quo year after year.

Sarah was firing a warning shot over their heads when she talked about a third party if the GOP won’t listen to the people. A very definite warning shot.

I think we’re definitely headed in a 3rd party direction - the GOP elites are not going to be conservative enough over the next two years, plus they will burn the house down (ala Murkowski, Castle, Crist) before they will let go of their gravy train positions.

Conservatives seeking supremacy in Washington politics have a tough fight ahead of us with the hardcore left and the RINO elites both struggling to stop the Tea Party and Sarah Palin, who represents everything we value and everything they hate. Smarmy hit pieces on Palin are basically useless at this late date because the left just keeps saying the same garbage about Palin and the right instantly tunes it out. We've long since taken our positions.

The apolitical, independent and often apathetic voter is still the one to convince so the left keeps attacking (Palin) to try and freeze her image as a stupid bumpkin, 'dangerous', etc. It worked on George W. Bush; years of vicious attacks on his intelligence, honor and honesty finally paid off by 2006 and, especially in 2008. Granted, Bush's lack of real response to the attacks helped the left finally convince Americans - wrongly - that Bush was a terrible president and everything he did was wrong, etc.

Conversely, Sarah Palin won't just lie down and allow the left - or the GOP elites - to roll over her. This is a refreshing change from a conservative. They usually slink away when viciously attacked (Trent Lott, Newt Gingrich, Bill Bennett, even G. W. Bush - in a sense, with the exception of Rush Limbaugh, who is not a politician) but Sarah Palin fights back, just as Ronald Reagan did 30 years ago. This makes her exceptional and worthy of consideration as the Republican nominee for president in 2012. We need fighters, not wimps - and Sarah Palin is a fighter.

However, should the 'new Republicans' (in congress) disappoint us by allowing the Tea Party agenda to be diluted and eventually subsumed by the Republican RINO elites and the 'moderate' (yeah, right) Democrats in Washington, I'm done with the GOP and will sign on to a Third Party because the Republican party will have proven that it no longer represents my values or my best interests and that of the country. Frankly, I hope that doesn't happen.

Palin referred to him as a “punk”, I’ll go further.

Jonathan Martin is a craven lickspittle that resides within the bowls of the socialist society, reeking of the stench of putrified flesh.

I do hope that someone video records his suicide on election day.

Actually, the bastard Romney (when will any woman
candidate and her children be safe from him?)
was behind the Rove attack on in Delaware.

By what right has he to discredit another woman?

“And The Most Irresponsible Journalist Award Goes to The Politico’s Jonathan Martin!
So tell me, how do you write a “news” story about an organization paying for a speaker when you don’t even know if the organization is paying for the speaker?
Ask “journalist” Jonathan Martin. He knows all about it.
You see, Jonny wrote a piss poor story the other day about how the Iowa Family Policy Center will be paying a large speaker fee if Sarah Palin comes to Iowa to keynote the IFPC’s fall funderaiser.
The only problem is that Jonny has no sources confirming that any exorbitant fee is being charged or paid.
Jonny also got some inside info from David Kochel, who was a top aide to former (and future) presidential candidate, Mitt Romney.
Hey Dave, didn’t I just read a story about how Mitt Romney tried to buy off the Iowa Christian Alliance?
I heard you helped facilitate that little scheme. And somehow you are shocked at the thought of a well-known political figure (who very likely isn’t running for president) getting paid a speaker’s fee for (gasp) a public speaking appearance? ..
and then we’ve got Tim Albrecht quoted. He was the Iowa spokesman for Romney’s 2008 caucus campaign.”
And it always seemed like, whenever the Romney people had rumors they wanted to start about other candidates,
Jonny was their go-to guy to get those rumors in writing in front of a national audience.

“Go Mitt. Go Mitt. Go Mitt.”

“Rove is pushing Romney so aggressively some folks are beginning to wonder what's going on,” grumbled one veteran Republican strategist.”

“Rove has made no secret of his support for Romney as McCain’s VP. ”

Rush had a good take on Rove and other buttwipes that hate Palin.

They did not ‘create’ her, so they don't care if it is going to make the Republicans move forward, they must destroy anything that is not of their making...

kind of like the male lion who eats the young of the previous pride leader, so only their own progeny lives on....

"Rove is pushing Romney so aggressively folks are beginning to wonder what's going on."

I know what's going on, by gum!

The Insider Beltway Boys are fixin' to push a presidential candidate lite down our throats again....a la Dole or McCain.

We may yet see mild-mannered Rove all wildly animated again for the first time since he thrashed Christine O'Donnell within an inch of her life.

His false teeth will probably fly out of his mouth when he gives an impassioned TV rant on behalf of Romney or Gramnesty.
