Interesting (and plausible) theory.
We didn’t recover from the damage done by FDR.
We didn’t recover from the damage done by LBJ.
Will we really recover from the damage done by BHO?
Each of the latter two built upon the socialistic junk erected by his predecessor(s).
I admire your optimism, but I am fearful and skeptical.
Democrats have built an enormous and permanent underclass that depends on them for sustenance. The producer class in this country is rapidly shrinking. I hope it is not too late and your are right.
BTW - UN SecGen term ends 12/31/11.
But I would add this thought. Most people were unaware of the damage FDR was doing because the books were written by New Deal supporters. Even with LBJ, it was only conservatives who understood the damage the Great Society did.
Now, we have a lot larger group of people who understand how dangerous liberalism is because they've finally put all their cards on the table and far more Americans see how ugly their game is now that it's been exposed.
That, I think, will be the factor that makes the difference in recovering from this leftist fiasco.
Feeling a little more optimistic? ;)
It's a perfect fit of corruption with corruption.
We'll see how things pan out in the next two years after Obama has had to deal with the stranglehold on his absolute power that the new Congress will affect. And we should see how he reacts very shortly.
It's not going to be nice.
This is probably the funniest post I’ve read in a long time!
Right...and no ads whatsoever! Wonder how many differences there are?
That’s the point that Amity Shlaes makes in “The Forgotten American.” When FDR was excoriating business and socializing the nation, he was the first to do it, so it was a novel approach to an America hungry for a solution. He also had a huge amount of budgetary headroom to do it because the federal share of GDP at the time was something like 4%.
You are right that we have the knowledge today and the historical record of failure of big government and liberalism. Plus, we have the advantages of mass communication outside the “normal” MSM channels — we no longer have to listen only to Cronkhite for our news. Today’s channels are much more like the Committees of Correspondence set up in 1775 to protect the colonies.
Like you, I swing back and forth. We need to get much more of the populace swung back to the side of liberty and independence. That is difficult to do when the enemy controls almost all K-12 and higher ed in the country.
I get the Kasich ad when I click on the link. We have got to defeat Strickland in nine days. Come on, Buckeyes! Let the recovery begin!!!
Yes it all started when he was conceived by an ignorant white girl and an african Marxist.. then the african left and headed for the veldt to make more babies..
Then; the white girl left him with some ignorant white redneck relatives.. that hated the United States..
After he grew up and moved to Chicago he was pretty much screwed into the ground like a doggie holder.. with a leash.. and has been licking traitorous boots ever since..
Oh I forgot panting and riding legs..
And I like Kasich. Go Kashich! (Originally from Pittsburgh, I believe!) :-)
Next Tuesday can’t come soon enough!!
Let’s face it. Obama has screwed most Americans. That is why he wants amnesty for illegals and to bring 80,000 refugee Muslims into our country before the next election.
“When FDR was excoriating business and socializing the nation, he was the first to do it, . . .”
Actually, the execrable Woodrow Wilson started things downhill considerably before FDR. Teddy Roosevelt to a lesser degree.
Yeah, there’s that saying by the Bard that goes: “Hell hath no fury like the woman scorned”! (I think that’s how it goes, anyway!)
