CNN ^

(CNN) - As Election Day gets closer, the rhetoric gets more intense, interesting and, shall we say, passionate. Here are some things you might have missed.

Miller? Miller? Miller?

Ben Stein - famous for his role in the '80s movie classic "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and his political/economic commentary - took to the pages of the Alaska Dispatch to blast Tea Party-backed Republican Senate candidate Joe Miller, calling him a "dangerous, stupid clown."

Yes, and his father, Herb Stein, was Nixon’s, Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors. The liberal, tax and spend, Stein, was one of the principal reasons that Nixonomics failed. Ben is just following in his late father’s footsteps.

I can’t stand Ben Stein.

Same here. He's not only unfunny but wrong on this matter.

Didn't see it myself, but I heard Lisa was booed at a debate over the weekend.

Miller is going to win this race. You can feel it in the air up here; don't even worry about the close polls.

Stein’s truly a whack-job. I read his monthly “diary” on American Spectator just for the sheer nuttiness. His hypochondria, his endless problems on airplanes and in hotels and restaurants, his improbably-named dogs (Puppy-Whuppy, for God’s sake!) and best of all, his weird son, Tommy.

Yet Ben still loves Richard Nixon

Makes sense. Nixon was AWFUL. Privately anti-gun, started the EPA, and bloated many other ones.

Tommy was a disaster waiting to happen. Talk about spoiled rotten. I haven’t read Ben Stein’s diary in years - wonder how Tommy turned out.

Truly, it’s worth reading for the laughs. Tommy turned out just like...Tommy. Stein doesn’t write about him much except to say he married a “beautiful” girl and the two of them sometimes show up at his home at 3 or 4 o’clock in the morning, lol.

I also heard Medved slamming O'Donnell. Why do that? I think they are old guard and see their power slipping away. Good riddance.

Medved is a liberal in the closet. The only reason he identifies himself as an (alleged) conservative Republican is because he's an observant Jew and bigtime Israel supporter. He's smart enough to realize that the Dems are the "Hate Israel" party.

First Rove and now Stein. I also heard Medved slamming O'Donnell.

If you are a FNC watcher, BOR, Brit Hume, Bernie Goldberg also.

I used to read Stein’s columns in AS and was amazed at his whining. Has his horrible spoiled kid killed anybody yet?

Stein IS a whack job. His son Tommy was a trainwreck, but both genetics and training made him that way.

It must be bad if he doesn’t write much about him. He was obsessed with the kid. What got me was that he knew that he was ruining Tommy by letting him have his way all the time, but he said he couldn’t help himself.

The diary used to be riveting when detailing the sorry story of Tommy. There was the video-addiction that caused him to be sent to a military school, the destruction of Stein’s beach house which Stein repaired himself, apparently wearing an apron like Jim Bacchus in “Rebel Without a Cause,” the purchasing of an expensive car for little T in which the two Steins drag raced on Sunset Boulevard, incurring the wrath of the L.A. police.

Talk about watching a train wreck! How could I take Stein seriously on anything after that?

Stein is(or at least was) a big time pro-lifer, and also made a film against the theory of evolution, so I don’t think he hates social conservatives. I have no idea what motivates him, to be honest. Truly an enigma.

Nope I haven’t. Is he supportive of Christians in it?

Is he social conservative or just an economic one like lots around here too.
