Israel as Fossil-Fuel Giant: How Many Ways Could This Change the Game?
National Review ^ | 10/25/10 | Judith Levy

Posted on 10/25/2010 2:14:23 PM PDT by Nachum

A preliminary geological survey has indicated that there might be about 26 million barrels of recoverable oil a mile under the sand near two kibbutzim in the northern Negev. That would amount to about $2 billion at current prices. There might be 12 million additional barrels further down. This news comes a day after drilling began on the Leviathan, a record-setting exploratory well in a massive natural-gas field off the coast of Haifa. The area is thought to contain 16 trillion cubic feet of gas, and it might also contain oil.

If you want an intriguing evening, read some of Joel C. Rosenberg’s books about Israel and oil/gas discovery. Google will get you on the right track.

We have our own oil here and the administration is too stupid and fired up on Green trash to drill for it.

That’s the difference between the Israelis having a patriot for a Prime Minister and us having ... whatever it is that we have ... for a president.

Not only the President, John McCain and othe Repubs stopped us from drilling a decade ago when GW proposed it. We are outlawed from even exploring for oil.

Pray for the Election

Does this mean that once they start drilling that they will start building Synagogues around the world to convert others to Judaism? How will we decide, choices, choices.

Joel Rosenberg didn’t predict this...the Holy Bible predicted this.

Check it out for yourself.

26 million barrels? Dont they mean 26 billion? 26 million barrels would be a month supply.

““But the Lebanese government and Hezbollah are claiming that whatever the Americans and Israelis find off the Haifa coast actually belongs to them.””

That will mean a real war with real stakes. Iran and Russia will chime in to prevent a competitor and for the normal insane Iranian reasons. Ironically, China could end up a moderating influence on the muslims because they want oil supplies.

Israel is very fortunate that safe drilling for oil isn’t blocked there by phony environmental wackos as it is in the US at present. Israel will be much safer when it can meet more of its own oil needs via domestic production. And the Israeli citizen will benefit by lower oil prices.

I can only imagine that the Campaigner in Chief will now dictate that Israel must stop all oil/gas exploration as a condition in every future peace plan.

I snickered at your tagline- that's pretty clever!

“We have our own oil here and the administration is too stupid and fired up on Green trash to drill for it.”

That may be, but I have been thinking about that lately.

Some countries are selling their “natural resources” to pay off debts.

I have been worried this will be in our future as well. Selling off our oil, our gold mines, our coal, to sell to chinese companies, so that we can pay though the nose forever, ... our whole country turned into a company store.

sigh
