Manchin says he didn't understand key health care details

The Democratic Senate candidate from West Virginia, Gov. Joe Manchin, says he didn't understand key details of the health care reform legislation when he publicly endorsed it in March an endorsement he has since withdrawn.
"Reaching as far as they did in the in the weeds of the bill that we didn't know about, no one else knew about until it came out knowing that, I would not have supported that or voted for that at that time," Manchin said on "Fox News Sunday."
Asked about areas where he disagrees with President Barack Obama, Manchin cited the health care reform legislation Obama signed in March.
"The health care reform is far overreaching in areas that I don't agree with the 1099 part of that, the mandates. Also, the firewall's not strong enough for abortions. I'm pro-life. And we're just a different type of Democrat here in West Virginia," Manchin said. (The "1099" reference is to a revenue-raising provision that requires businesses to report more transactions to the IRS.)
While some provisions, such as the new 1099 rules, were not terribly well-publicized at the time, the individual mandate was a central part of the Democrats' health reform legislation for months before it passed. Manchin never quite said he didn't know the mandate was in the bill, but he said again that he would have voted against the bill if he knew what he knows now.
"Knowing the existence as far as how reaching it had been, as far as and onerous I would have" voted against it, he said.

How convenient.
Do West Virginia voters want to send a man to the Senate who doesn’t know what’s in a bill?
Manchin has no business being in the US Senate.
Oh, please! Barf Alert!
“I was too dumb to understand it, but I voted for it anyway cuz I’m easy to roll.” Now who wouldn’t want someone like that leading their state, huh? Oh, and to top it all off, he’s a “pro-life Democrat.” Isn’t that special?
Putrid, pathetic scuzz, and filthy liars to boot. Traitors! Every last one of them! May they ROT in a deep, dark PIT!
Above his pay grade. Where have we heard this before?
...he didn’t have any problem with Pelosi saying “you have to pass the bill to be able to see what’s in it” thought...too little too late Joe....or “we can fix it after we pass it”...
no problem there eh Joe?
Please tell me that is NOT good enough to get elected in this day and age...
Please...
Manchin is either lying or incredibly stupid if he didn’t realize what was in the bill. You didn’t need to know the details to see what it would do to Americans’ health care choices, insurance rates and the economy.
Another blustery Senator who doesn’t know what he is doing?
Flip Flop
Cap and Trade yes and no
Obamacare yes and no
He makes a good jon carry.
being a Senator is above his pay grade.
Okay, I’ll take him at his word. That means he was too stupid to understand the legislation or too lazy to read it. Either way, still too incompetent to be a U.S. Senator. Sorry Manchin, you lose...

Weasle.
Admitting he voted for a bill he did not understand? What more reason do you need to vote against him? He is either,
1- lying (most likely)
2- stupid, or
3- corrupted by the Party, or
4- a combination of all three
“I was endorsing things I didn’t understand.”
You know, the sad thing about this is that Joe has messed in his nest. If he is not elected to the Senate, he has sullied his reputation in WV as governor. He has been a much loved governor, but this race has taken off his mask and revealed the crooked politician underneath the smile.
