Boxer faces ethics complaint for telling teachers to send students to work for campaign
Daily Caller ^ | 10/27/10 | Jonathan Strong

Posted on 10/27/2010 6:45:25 PM PDT by NormsRevenge

In a close election race against former Hewlett-Packard executive Carly Fiorina, California Democrat Sen. Barbara Boxer is facing new ethics complaints over asking teachers to send their students to work for her campaign.

In an Oct. 27 letter to California education authorities, the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association (HJTA), a non-profit group urging lower taxes, said, “In abject ignorance of California state law, the political campaign of Senator Barbara Boxer has openly solicited teachers employed by [Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD)] to urge their students to volunteer for her campaign.”

The HJTA letter refers to a letter obtained by the Flash Report, an influential California political blog, from the Boxer campaign that urges teachers to recruit their students to work for Boxer’s campaign.

“As you may know, Senator Boxer is facing her toughest race yet,” the letter from Boxer says, “please let us know if your students are able to help.”

Boxer’s campaign was unable to immediately comment on either its letter nor the HJTA’s letter.

HJTA’s letter cites a portion of California law governing teachers’ conduct which makes it illegal for teachers to solicit political support of students, including donations and volunteer work.

“In abject ignorance of California State Law...”

They’re also abjectly ignorant of(or abjectly dismissive of)the Constitution.

“In abject ignorance of California state law, the political campaign of Senator Barbara Boxer has openly solicited teachers employed by [Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD)] to urge their students to volunteer for her campaign.”

Here's the truer version:

“In utter contempt of California state law, the political campaign of Senator Barbara Boxer has openly solicited teachers employed by [Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD)] to urge their students to volunteer for her campaign.”

The important thing to see in this faux ignorance on Boxer's part is that (illegally) searching out the least informed, most ignorant, least engaged human beings in the state for support tells us all we need to know about "Bouncer" Boxer.

Another "by all means possible" moment for the progressive criminals.
And if high schoolers or younger students are involved, we're talking child abuse to boot; exploiting the intellectually immature.
Hey Ma'm have you considered recruiting at mental institutions? Just a thought.

Why can't ordinary citizen voters file a class action suit against the political crook? Subverting the value of the vote is certainly an injury to the entire state citizenry.

Libs are pathetic. They view such indiscretions as bold, assertive, aggressive, and that person regardless of the law will get things done. BAAAAD is good.

The more indiscretions, the better in the eyes of the morons that comprise the Leftistsphere.

The best bet for the sake of our Nation is to legislate that only Citzens with brains can vote.

As a teacher I can assure you that teachers tell students to tell their parents how to vote. Worse yet, some parents want to be told how to vote by their kids.

It is not just sad, it's scary.

Isn't it interesting that the Democrats think they have some righteous claim on the time and lives of students and children in America. I believe that the commie Democrats actually think they own America"s schools, children and college students. Incredibly ugly arrogance on the Dems part.

I'm sure she has read them well. She also knows they will never, ever be enforced as long as liberals decide who gets prosecuted, and when.

Maybe the primary reason California is a far left state is that about 60% of the population is very laid back, prefer to work as less as possible while collecting welfare off the rich? And this is why they are voting for Boxer? are they all expecting more bailouts (aka, free Obama money)?

I had a teacher who told us to tell our parents to vote for Carter! When I told my dad that, he got a good laugh, and then told me to tell the teacher to give him a call if she wanted him to vote a certain way. I was in the 4th grade so I relayed the message. She actually called and by the end of the conversation told my dad she was voting for Reagan! My dad told her that would be great, but the main point he wanted to get across was to stop scaring 4th graders into supporting certain candidates. She had told us Reagan would ruin our school! My dad also felt the need to tell her that she should remember she worked for the tax payers and not vice versa. Years later he ran for mayor, and she claims she even voted for him! But it makes you wonder how many of those 4th graders internalized the idea that republicans are bad based on what one ignorant teacher had said.

All: Living in Cali, I can tell you... Democrats are like the PRI used to be in Mexico. No one cares about this if it is a Dem. Just business as usual. They can do anything they want and no one cares, like drug addled sheep, people just march as a bunch of worker ants, into the voting booth and vote against their own interest. Look at the polling. If we were a normal state, Boxer should be 10 points down, not 3-4 up.

BTW - The LA Slymmes-USC poll is bogus. Any poll by a college/university has a 8-10 percent Lefty Poli-Sci professor induced bias. The students want a good grade, so they give the professor what he wants.

This practice is rampant in California. They spend every day demonizing Republicans than give their students (both hs & college) an election year assignment that requires them to volunteer for a campaign - wanting a good grade the students all show up and volunteer for liberals/the Democratic Party.

"“As you may know, Senator Boxer is facing her toughest race yet,” the letter from Boxer says, “please let us know if your students are able to help.”

Dear Senator Boxer, I am sorry to have to inform you none of my students can help. I know this is an unusual situation, but as an educator I take seriously my responsibility to teach my students to read and write and to think for themselves. Unfortunately, no literate person who reviewed your record and thought critically about it would EVER support you. So I am afraid my students will be unable to help you - although after the election, I will be happy to ask for volunteers to help you pack up your local offices.

Sincerely,

A [fictional] California Teacher
