The Daily Show with Jon Stewpid and the coercion of American youth

Access to accurate and reliable information is vital to a functioning, free society. Media and education have historically been key sources for American ideals to be tested through rigorous debate and thoughtful dialogue. When it comes to youth in America, these institutions are failing.

A study by the Center for the Study of Popular Culture which surveyed 32 universities found 1,397 professors registered democrat while only 134 registered republican. 1,891 were unaffiliated. College is the incubator for young minds to grow and develop but with such lopsided bias among teachers, indoctrination is inevitable. Coddling young minds with such bias before they have significant experience of their own to draw upon is criminal in a free society that requires rigorous debate. Even at the conservative bastion that is Texas A&M, I have sat through classes where a liberal arts professor has used his soapbox to repeatedly refer to the death penalty as murder while shrugging off serious criticisms of their assertions. I sat through one class in Mays Business School where a professor likened an ideal society to a field of poppies. "When one is too short, the others pull it up. When one grows too tall, the others pull it down." Both of these views certainly warrant rigorous debate, but don't have any place being offered as factual realities by professors at an esteemed university. The liberal ideology has become so pervasive in education that it is no wonder according to Pew research youth in America tilt 58 percent Democrat to 33 percent Republican...

Network news is dumbed down enough already. I never watch the Daily Show which takes the dumbing down of news to extremes.
The only ones I’ve seen who watch the Daily Show regularly are manchilds (30 going on 12 like my younger brother) and stoners.
That’s Stewarts main demographic.

Daily Show reporting is nothing but two high school girls trying to one up each other with fabricated cleverness.

The problem was that in the 50’s people trusted those in academics to really educate. They could not understand that the Freudian Marxism of Marcuse was seeping into all the curricula, since Dewey threw out the McGuffey readers— which taught moral absolutes and that God made everything and that we had to respect God’s creation.

Parents could not conceive of anyone intentionally trying to destroy the minds of children.

I have the McGuffey readers. They taught morality in the Christian context—understood by over 90% of the population and which were the principles that made capitalism work so well—the trust, character and honesty. (Not like islam which allows lies to infidels, Christians weren’t allowed to lie and cheat, although some did, it was condemned and taught to children as BAD.)

Moral relativism (observed and taught by my Nigerian professor) destroys trust because there is no unifying base of reference....everyone makes up their own right and wrong. Economics will eventually devolve into bribery (like the Nigerian philosopher said was rampant in his moral relativistic country—which could NEVER be as great as America was unless they were built on the Judeo-Christian ethic.)

Values Clarification which was injected into all curricula in the 70’s is moral relativism....to destroy moral absolutes (the concept of right and wrong) and Judeo/Christian ethics. It was the sneaky way to make young children into practicing atheists—much like the teaching of evolution without the idea of intelligent design.

Cultural Marxists promote sex and drugs to the youth....easy to get addicted to and prevents true knowledge. Worthwhile pursuits always take discipline and hard work which was the norm in America up until the sexual revolution which promotes laziness and victimhood. Government was used to promote the bad and punish the good. (To destroy the family and religion.)

They ditched Milton, Dickens, Dostoevsky and inserted Ginsberg, Burroughs, Maya Angelou, to promote sexual vulgarity and perversion and to destroy respect for older generations (to prevent their old fashioned ideas from taking hold—such as honor, integrity and loyalty.)

We are in a cultural war...always have been since Dewey and the Frankfurt school invaded NY in the 30’s. It is to destroy the fabric of society—family and Christianity. It is intentional and they are winning....Witness author Chambers said we were losing in the 50’s.....”God or man?” Either we are made in the image of God or we are nothing but apes.

The Daily Show was funny until Jon Stewart developed his Messiah Complex. Now he thinks he’s the spiritual youth leader rather than a self-important gasbag.

Both Stewart and Colbert are incredibly entertaining with multiple Emmy Awards but are utter failures at honest dialogue or open debate.

The line above shows me that the author is clueless. He might not be aware of this, but Stewart and Colbert are comedians and the shows are on Comedy Central. Calls for dialogue and debate on a comedy show are just stupid.

For those who need to find out where ideas come from...great article...btw, the promotion of sex education in the schools(Lukacs) started the destruction of Christianity and family.....

valid point but I think the overarching theme is that students, while knowing it is comedy, are still drawing on the shows views as a source of news. That view is legitimized by the culture of academia.

I don’t think the article is necessarily calling for the shows to change to a non biased format as much as taking a moment to point out that it is incredibly biased and students are soaking it up. It is a problem when bias is pushed before kids are able to see bias. What is the next show going to be? The Daily Show with Dora the Explorer? We already had captain planet create a generation of kids who think any and every form of recycling is great and corporations create nothing but pollution.

I haven’t gone deep into the links. But on the surface the lead is not believable. It is impossible to list the political leanings of college professors without including the Green/Communist party. My impression is that there are far more in the Green party than the Republican party. Calling them “independent” is not honest.

"The only ones I’ve seen who watch the Daily Show regularly are manchilds (30 going on 12 like my younger brother) and stoners."

That describes my lib nephew to a T. The 30 going on 12 anyway. I've often thought there might be an element of stoner in there but the jury's still out on that.

He used to really get on my nerves with his attitude, until I started giving it back to him by asking when he was going to move out of Daddys house and quit delivering pizza's for a living. Libs can't stand to be ridiculed. :)

But yeah, he thought anything jon stewart said came from a burning bush and was written on a stone tablet somewhere....
