American Life League
28 October 2010
Washington, DC – American Life League president Judie Brown issued the following statement on the news that contributions to the University of Notre Dame fell by over $120 million during the fiscal year in which [Alleged] President Barack Obama, a zealous abortion advocate, delivered a speech and was honored at commencement ceremonies.
As one of the first responders to the scandal, American Life League and its supporters insisted that the university had forfeited its right to be called Catholic and thus petitioned for the school’s removal from The Official Catholic Directory.
“It is heartening to hear that Notre Dame’s donors responded so overwhelmingly to American Life League’s call and that of so many other organizations and individuals that were genuinely scandalized and saddened by the mockery made of an institution also known as ‘Our Lady’s University.’
“The fact that Notre Dame bestowed an honorary law degree on a man who is outspokenly committed to denying the poorest and weakest human beings their God-given human rights, pains me to this day.
“We want to thank, once again, the American Life League supporters who signed our petition to Bishop John D’Arcy and all those who supported our on-the-ground work in Fort Wayne and South Bend, Indiana.
“Clearly, our combined voices were heard by Notre Dame’s donors and, you can be very sure, will be felt by the university for a long time to come.
“The saga of Notre Dame, though tragic, is also an uplifting reminder that Christendom is still alive, courageous and responsive in the face of insults to Our Lord and His Blessed Mother.”
American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death. Ahh so all those lawsuits for wrongful death, negligence and so forth are not real?
The original article does mention that the decline also coincided with the recession.
It is wishful thinking to think that the $120 million decline was due to obama alone.
I did do my part, though. Instead of a check, they got a note on the donation request that said, “No money until “Father” Jenkins and those like him are gone from ND.”
I grew up rooting for Paul Hornung on fall afternoons raking leaves and listening to Lindsay Nelson on Notre Dame games.
Now, they are dead to me.
Google on "workers comp exclusive" if you're really interested.
Reap what you sew ND.
Just did they think was going to happen?
Father Jenkins knew that his actions would be costly. He went along with having a man who pushes the abortion plank for his own political gain. Now Father Jenkins better figure out how to offset the fiscal loss he and he alone caused. Let us see if the board is as understanding of Father Jenkins as they were then.

We are no longer watching Notre Dame football. They are already in hell.
Did you know that Alan Keyes will be in Indianapolis to support Dr Marvin Johnson? He is the tea party candidate facing scumbag Andre Carson.
The fault apportioned to the decedent's employer didn't result any a damage award because workers comp was the exclusive remedy. The large damage award was not against the employer.
The drop was about 32%. First time I clicked on the link they had the numbers. Next time they weren't there.
Make that Marvin Scott. Geesh Marvin johnson was a boxer. LOL
I picked one of 50 stories about workplace lawsuits and awards.
Do your own search, I’m done with ya.
As usual, journalists screwed up the story. Some of the headlines say a tower collapsed. In reality, it appears that a 50-foot hydraulic scissor lift blew over in 50 mi/h winds. That is twice the wind recommended for their safe use.
'Collapse' and 'blew over' certainly are two different things. The former indicates equipment failure. The latter indicates use in unsafe conditions.
In 50 mi/h gusts? No, thanks! The kid himself Twittered the following:
In the first message, timestamped 3:22 p.m., Sullivan wrote, "Gust of wind up to 60mph well today will be fun at work... I guess I've lived long enough :-/." The second message, which was sent at 4:06 p.m., less than an hour before his tragic fall at 4:50 p.m., reads, "Holy f*** holy f*** this is terrifying."
Look, I don’t mean to pick nits on an issue which is collateral to the subject of the thread, but as the young man’s employer, Notre Dame is not exposed to lawsuits resulting from his workplace death. You can wish it were otherwise, but workers comp, in one form or antoher, is the law in all 50 states.
He was a student not an employee.
Sure its law. And that hasnt stopped the lawsuits or awards.
Surely, sending a student worker (who may not even be considered an employee) up on a lift rated for no more than 10 MPH winds in a 50 MPH wind would fall into the gross negligence category.
Here's the lift before the collapse.
One article mentioned that the student was an employee of the athletic department.
