CHICAGO (AP) - Republican Mark Kirk says the Bush administration lied to him about the evidence for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

Kirk voted to invade Iraq and said he was morally certain Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.

Wow... just when you think Mark Kirk couldn't sink any lower... he's now repeating the talking points used by Michael Moore and DailyKos!

Another thread recently revealed that Kirk has been endorsed by a group of black ministers who are far-left lifelong Chicago Democrats. This too, didn't even faze the Kirk apologists trying to convince conservatives to elect Jim Jeffords Jr.

Mark Kirk's veered so far left he's in "Bush lied, people died" Cindy Sheehan territory now. If he keeps it up, maybe Cindy just might endorse him by election day! I bet Marky would like that. And the Kirk apologists would be here in full force to defend him.

The Great Iraq Flip-Flop

Chronicals how as far back as 1998, the Democrats were all on board with invading Iraq and taking out Hussein. It wasn't until a Republican President got into office that their song changed.

Liars. Hypocrits. Fools. The Democrat Party in triplicate.

The framers of our United States Constitution did not have the prescience to exclude the students of today's institutional indoctrination system, and the consumers of our driveby media from the vote on Nov 2.

Even the anti-American, freedom hating traitorous rats are allowed to vote. The Illinois rat party, unions, state government bureaucracy, and cemetery balloting system is arguably the most corrupt political borg machine in the country. Il moderates and even some rats want to pass on Giannoulias, but they fear Kirk because they are little girly men who watch Bravo, or they are the beneficiaries of Obamunism. In WV you join the klan, but this is what you have to do to win in Il. A senator is a representative of the people. If the people are weenies, the senator should embody the principles, or lack thereof, espoused by the people of Ill.

Unless Keyes decides to run independent really soon the choice is RINO or rat.

Yeah, I know. Liars, hypocrits and fools is right.

We need to find different, bigger adjectives to describe them tho. The typical ones have been used so much it’s like calling somebody racist. That card has been played so much it doesn’t mean much anymore. We need words that will send them scrambling for dictionary.com.

Illinois Conservatives all need to support Mike Labno for Senate.

It's better the Democrat wins than Mark Kirk.
Their votes will be the same, but at least it won't humiliate the Republicans when Alexi Giannoulias does it.

Its always the closeted HOMOSEXUALS like MARK KIRK that are the biggest RINOS.

He’s another Charlie Crist without the fake suntan.

Illinois Rep. Mark Kirk has had a dramatic few days, and now a popular gay blogger known for outing politicians claims to have sources confirming that Kirk is a closeted gay man.

Before the February Illinois primary, Kirk, a Republican vying for President Obama’s former senate seat, faced attacks from birther Andy Martin claiming that Kirk was gay. Kirk denied the claims, but now faces an attempted outing from the other side—the gay community.

Activist blogger Mike Rogers tends to target politicians with antigay voting records, and “outed” Sen. Larry Craig and Rep. Mark Foley. He was also featured in the film “Outrage” where he discussed closeted politicians who work against the gay community. In a Tuesday post on Rogers’ BlogActive, he explained why he decided to bring up Kirk’s sexuality now:

Until now, Mark Kirk elected not to play the typical Washington game. Instead of supporting his party’s dismal record on gay rights, Kirk received Human Rights Campaign ratings of 67% in 2002, 88% in 2004, 76% in 2006 and 85% in 2008. That’s more impressive than a lot of Democrats. I even let Kirk slide by when he didn’t co-sponsor earlier legislation relating to the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. My thoughts then were that he wasn’t THAT bad on gay stuff and that the bill was going nowhere anyway.

Though the HRC has supported Kirk in the past, the group pledged their support to Democrat Alexi Giannoulias last week after Kirk voted against the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” repeal.

Rogers cited several sources who contacted him following Kirk’s DADT vote. Two men, whose names were not given, claimed to have had sexual relations with Kirk while he was in college.

The post also claims that Kirk alluded to his homosexuality to Rogers himself at a 2004 party in Washington:

It was at that party that I met Mark Kirk. I was introduced to him by the person I came with and at the time did not realize he was a member of the House. As my friend walked away, Kirk asked me if the man who introduced us was “single or attached.” When I said that he had a partner, Kirk replied disappointingly, “oh, well.” At the end of that interaction I walked away and didn’t think much of it at the time.

Kirk, who has no children and divorced his wife Kimberly Vertolli last year, denied that he was gay during Martin’s attacks in 2009. Vertolli also insisted to Chicago gay blog Feast of Fun that her ex-husband is not gay.

Oh that's just rich, Bush's fault.  Never mind the fact that the United States Policy was by hook or crook to remove Sadaam, his sons and the rest of the cabal by peace if possible and by force if necessary.

You can read all about it yourself.  It's not as if Bill Clinton and all 100 Senators didn't urge this as our policy.  But why let a little fact get in the way and under the lens of 911, I think it was time to say "Enough" and end our cessation of hostilities.  The terms of the cessation of hostilities had 28 mandates for the Iraqi government, 17 of which they regularly violated and shot at our airplanes damn near every week.

So Buh-Bye

The Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 H.R. 4655 (PL 105-338) was passed October 5, 1998, in the U.S. House of Representatives by an overwhelming majority. On October 7, the companion bill, S. 2525, passed unanimously in the U.S. Senate, "establishing a program [to] support a transition to democracy in Iraq." [1]

Speaking on behalf of the bill in the Senate, Trent Lott said:

"The United States has many means at its disposal to support the liberation of Iraq. At the height of the Cold War, we supported freedom fighters In Asia, Africa and Latin America willing to fight and die for a democratic future. We can and should do the same now in Iraq.

Statement on Signing the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998
October 31, 1998

Today I am signing into law H.R. 4655, the "Iraq Liberation Act of 1998." This Act makes clear that it is the sense of the Congress that the United States should support those elements of the Iraqi opposition that advocate a very different future for Iraq than the bitter reality of internal repression and external aggression that the current regime in Baghdad now offers.

Let me be clear on what the U.S. objectives are:

The United States wants Iraq to rejoin the family of nations as a freedom-loving and lawabiding member. This is in our interest and that of our allies within the region.

The United States favors an Iraq that offers its people freedom at home. I categorically reject arguments that this is unattainable due to Iraq's history or its ethnic or sectarian makeup. Iraqis deserve and desire freedom like everyone else.

The United States looks forward to a democratically supported regime that would permit us to enter into a dialogue leading to the reintegration of Iraq into normal international life.

My Administration has pursued, and will continue to pursue, these objectives through active application of all relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. The evidence is overwhelming that such changes will not happen under the current Iraq leadership.

In the meantime, while the United States continues to look to the Security Council's efforts to keep the current regime's behavior in check, we look forward to new leadership in Iraq that has the support of the Iraqi people. The United States is providing support to opposition groups from all sectors of the Iraqi community that could lead to a popularly supported government.

On October 21, 1998, I signed into law the Omnibus Consolidated and Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act, 1999, which made $8 million available for assistance to the Iraqi democratic opposition. This assistance is intended to help the democratic opposition unify, work together more effectively, and articulate the aspirations of the Iraqi people for a pluralistic, participatory political system that will include all of Iraq's diverse ethnic and religious groups. As required by the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act for FY 1998 (Public Law 105-174), the Department of State submitted a report to the Congress on plans to establish a program to support the democratic opposition. My Administration, as required by that statute, has also begun to implement a program to compile information regarding allegations of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes by Iraq's current leaders as a step towards bringing to justice those directly responsible for such acts.

The Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 provides additional, discretionary authorities under which my Administration can act to further the objectives I outlined above. There are, of course, other important elements of U.S. policy. These include the maintenance of U.N. Security Council support efforts to eliminate Iraq's prohibited weapons and missile programs and economic sanctions that continue to deny the regime the means to reconstitute those threats to international peace and security. United States support for the Iraqi opposition will be carried out consistent with those policy objectives as well. Similarly, U.S. support must be attuned to what the opposition can effectively make use of as it develops over time. With those observations, I sign H.R. 4655 into law.

WILLIAM J. CLINTON

The White House, October 31, 1998.

two wars (started by Obama's predecessor) and the calamitous malfunctioning of key industries -- finance, housing, health care, energy and more. Yet, instead of an effort to come together to meet what are national crises, the right-wing echo chamber talks only about bringing the president down, and the Republican leaders embrace and parrot the extreme anger of the right. The so-called moderates duck and cover. No more mavericks allowed.

And here is a PDF of the Law:  http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=105_cong_public_laws&docid=f:publ338.105.pdf

Kirk says he "absolutely" believes he was lied to.

I was actually considering "holding my nose" and voting for Kirk because I just can't stand the thought of Giannoulias as our Senator.

And now here comes yet another example of Mark Kirk saying anything to get elected.

I'm not holding my nose on Tuesday, and I'm not voting for Kirk. Looks like I'm voting for Labno.

Ask the Kurds if he did not have poison gas.

My recollection of the WMD charges was not that they still had left over materials, but were actively producing new chemical, biological and nuclear weapons.

They charged that Iraq was importing yellow cake uranium and aluminum tubes to produce weapons grade materials for nuclear weapons.
