(CNN) - A surprising new Senate poll in Delaware shows Republican Christine O'Donnell may be in striking distance of Democrat Chris Coons.
According to the new survey from Monmouth University, the surprise Republican nominee is only 10 points behind Coons, drawing 41 percent of the vote. In a previous Monmouth poll conducted two weeks ago, O'Donnell trailed by 19 points.
But the latest Monmouth survey differs substantially from two other recent polls, including a Farleigh Dickinson survey released Thursday that showed a 21-point advantage for Coons and a CNN/Time poll released earlier this month that indicated a 19-point lead for Coons.
The latest Monmouth poll surveyed 1,171 voters between October 25-27 and carries a sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

karl, quick, knock her down a few pegs before she wins
</sarcasm>
In my opinion, Obama has been concentrating on this race to be able to crow his “Political Effectiveness” in certain races after the election.
If Coons loses this, the Schadenfreude on the left, and in the Major Media, will be a sight to behold!!!
being 10 point down and only 3 days remaining is quite the challenge...but sure hope she can defeat that marxist!
Rush stated that Obama is coming back to Delaware to campaign for Coons. He also stated that Coons has backed out of the remainder of the debates.
The difference may turn out to be the likes of Rove etc. dissing Christine.
The sympathy vote because of the smear will be what puts her over.
Lets not cluck like chickens before they’re born. Or lets not hatch our chickens after plucking them. Or something like that.
And if she does win, we had better never, ever, EVER hear the words "but X can't win because he/she is a conservative" again!!!!
How’re those dirty tricks working out for there, liberals?
Hey Gawker! Thanks!
At this late point in the campaign, there is little else that can be done. I understand that COD is out there meeting and greeting and that is very good, but 10 points down is a huge deficit. Moreover, losing by one vote is as good as losing by thousands.
So...DE....are you listening??? IT'S ALL ABOUT TURNOUT!
She will win.
OK Folks,
Remind me again how many points Christine was down against Mike Castle a few days prior to the primaries?
Remind me again how many points Scott Brown was down against Martha Coakley a few days prior to the Massachusetts Senate elections?
Could somebody PLEASE get Joy Behar to quickly open her yap about Christine? Please!
Go, Christine, GO-!!!
I know that Brown was down 15 points in a Boston Globe poll one week before the election.
Come on Delaware. Don’t allow yourselves to be lackies for the Dummies.
Please elect O”Donnell!
Pretty Please!!!
Christine said last night on Hannity that Coons had cancelled his appearance in the last two Debates. Hey Christine: Put an empty chair there with his name and go ahead and have the debate.
RE: I know that Brown was down 15 points in a Boston Globe poll one week before the election.
Thanks for the reminder. And yet, he won by a comfortable margin (I believe 52-48). No reason the same can’t happen in Delaware.
Well, maybe not, but I can daydream a bit right?
Regards
I prefer the message it sends to RINOs
It looks like the Nazi libs on SNL are going to be working overtime this weekend shifting their scorched earth blitzkrieg to destroy O’Donnell into full gear.
Regardless of the outcome, CHRISTINE ODONNELL did her job, and she DID IT WELL. And she did it it one of the deepest BLUE states in the country.
Castle is gone, a message is delivered, and she has stolen so much air out of the room that Harry Reid will lose to Sharon Angle in Nevada.
She drew the attention of the mostly-Democrat Big Media, the leftist bloggers, and everyone else on the left away from other races.
They were so busy laughing at her, that they stopped paying attention to Sharon Angle.
Saturday Night Live did skits about ODonnell, not Rand Paul. MSNBCs biased morons were too busy laughing at O, to see what was happening until it was too late.
And the MONEY...
Always the money.
She dragged DEMOCRAT money away from countless other races.
It would also be a much-needed slap in the face to certain RINOs as well who actually believe that we would be better off with Mike Castle.
I would rather go down in defeat with real conservatives like Christine than to have any pyrrhic victories with an insufferable RINO like Mike Castle.
Maybe everyone in DE is fibbing to pollsters that they’re voting Coons so the result come next Wed morning will be shock and awe... I’d fib to a pollster :)
Yes, all about turnout. I hope it rains. The Rats will head for cover.
She’s already though of as quirky and odd. This would actually keep up that image and probably HELP her. Her notoriety ultimately is what is helping her, I think.
They have to seat Coons to do what they intend during the lame duck session.
I fib to every pollster.
Here is another factor. Hussein is going back to Delaware this weekend. If Coons was really up by 10-17 solid points, would Hussein be wasting his time here? This race is a lot closer than it seems.
Coons has gone into hiding, he hopes to run out the clock. Hussein appearing is a godsend to COD and should be good for 2-3 points in her favor.
From Monmouths report on the poll:
ODonnell has actually pulled into a 49% to 43% lead in the southern part of the state (i.e. Kent and Sussex counties). Two weeks ago, this region of the state was divided at 47% for ODonnell and 46% for Coons.
The Democrat continues to hold a sizable advantage in New Castle County, but the current 56% to 36% margin is down from the 63% to 33% edge he held earlier this month.
ODonnell has also made gains among independent voters, now leading Coons 47% to 42% among this voting bloc.
Two weeks ago, she trailed in the independent vote by 51% to 41%. While Coons still has the advantage, it has to be uncomfortable knowing that ODonnell was able to shave 9 points off his lead in just two weeks.
*One* reason...
Don’t get too excited about the lame duck session. Reid will lose. Do you think the dem senators will follow their lame duck leader in a lame duck session off an electoral cliff? Again?
You and me both!!
I also love to keep them on the phone forever. I had a political hack call me regarding voting for their candidate. I engaged them for over 20 minutes trying to get me to see it their way and to vote for their candidate.
At the end of the 20 minutes (hey, I'd have gone on longer but I had to go to the head), I told them that at long last, I was convinced that their candidate was the best and that they deserved my vote.
However, I told this political hack, there was one small problem. That was...that I had already voted absentee and I voted for the other candidate!!!
They sure sounded put out when I hung up on 'em!!
I love the election season!!!
I doubt she’s down by ten points. If she was, the media wouldn’t be focusing on this race as obsessively as they have. The White House is campaigning for Coons this weekend.

Yes, and a kick in the face to traitor Rove.
Rove isn’t a traitor, he’s an establishment type. The establishment fears outsiders like O’Donnell.
The democrat fascists are one big, angry, frustrated, derangement syndrome always looking for something to go ballistic over. That's how they "actualize" themselves, by screaming about who they hate, and who is stupid, etc., etc. Christine was the perfect sort of person to kick them into overdrive and blind rage.

Empty chair, empty suit, either way it would be the most intelligent deabte a Dem ever participated in.....
They called me a Witch
They called me a Ho
It’s been proven that I am neither.
My opponent however is a Bearded Marxist.
Please vote for me on November 2.
If the national pollsters are to be believed, it would appear that older Americans are leaning hard right, not left. At any rate...offer to take some old folks to the polling place...anything to increase the legal voters.
It really is all about turnout.
Absolutely. They know that their policies breed the dependency that produces more Democrat votes. So do the RINOs, the only difference is that the latter don't want to pay for it.
Her winning would make my night along with angle. Tea party women. Hhhhoooaaaa!!!!!

Delaware politics: Chris Coons leads Christine O’Donnell by 21 points in Senate race
What the heck ?
Please Dearest Lord, let this lady win if it is Your will.
Ann Coulter says this is the one race she most hopes to see a surprise Republican victory.
Down ten according to CNN means she’s within 2%....
