Electronic voting machines should be banned.

Exactly.
Even the dims were against them.
Not sure of their stance now.
If they've figured out how to 'game' them they might want them to stay.

“The problem with computer-assisted voting systems was that they centralized the opportunity for fraud.” - ES&S vice president Gary Greenhalgh in a NY Times article.

Interesting to note that Greenhalgh got his start in the election business under Ransom Shoup (convicted on felony bribery counts in 1979.) Oh, and Greenhalgh’s employer in 1999 (MicroVote, where he worked as national sales director)sent $130k in bribery payments to an election official in Mecklenburg County.

And take a guess what company’s machines are used in most NC counties.

ES&S’s Ivotronic.

This was ruled on by a FEDERAL Judge. Does that mean it will apply in Nevada? It should!

Diebold/Chavez, you mean! Those are the machines that Chavez used in Venezuela to steal election after election!

If the French can do it, WE can do it! Paper ballots ONLY!

Why not a receipt with a running tally for your vote and all votes cast?

The unions have pushed for this for a long time. The reasoning... they can compel their membership to show the receipts to confirm they voted as they were directed to do. On balance, this scares me more than electronic voting by providing the tool unions (and potentially others, for that matter) can use to make the secret ballot known.

Remember the New Black Panther thugs with batons standing outside the polling place in 2008? What's to keep them from telling voters entering, "We'll want to see who you voted for on your way out." The harm of that intimidation is beyond any electronic manipulation that is going on.

See post 45. Lots of mischief can happen with paper receipts.

If you can view the printout and verify it, how can it not be for the person you wanted?

It’s about time people stop making excuses for how lame the GOP is when it comes to standing around like witless dorks while the rats run roughshod over us. They, and their worshippers like you, need to lead, follow, or GTF out of the way. So shut your piehole and start holding them accountable instead of bitching out the rest of us who are sick and tired of putting up with their lameazz performance.

"Remember, it was the Republicans who were pushing for the no-paper-record electronic machines."

Not around here.

Remember, it was the Republicans who were pushing for the no-paper-record electronic machines. :-(

On which planet other than Earth? If Republicans pushed for this, there were at least a 1000 Democrats for every Republican who did. I remember quite clearly it was the Republicans who wanted physical evidence of each and every vote.

On Earth.

Is Barbara Boxer a Republican on your planet?

Yeah... I recall being at a Halloween party several years ago, the only conservative there, and they were shocked that I was as strongly opposed to these no-confirmation electronic systems as all the liberals were. In theior experience, it was the Republicans pushing for them...they didn't really understand the difference between Republican and conservative.
